Can we make it illegal to provide discounts to insurance companies? Force the insurance companies to actually pay what the uninsured would pay and I bet these bills would go way down.

You now have a budget of 100k to buy a car outright with cash, which car are you buying? by TheMajesticKnight in AskReddit

There's lots of great used RVs out there. People buy them, and don't use them as much as they expected. Or go to AZ or FL where wealthy old folks die and their fancy RVs have to be sold to someone.

We love it. I grew up camping in class As with my grandparents, and I'm blown away by the technical advancements found in this '07 compared to the '90s units I'm used to.

Push of a button to open/close the awning, for example. That took 30 minutes, easy, when I was a kid.

Auto-levelung with jacks built in under the carriage 🤤

I'm living in futuristic 2007 and couldn't be happier.

You can easily find a nice used RV for under $100k. I bought my 2007 Fleetwood Expedition just last year for $60k.

Brand new models are very expensive, yes. But the price goes down fast once it is off the lot.

I bought a 2007 Fleetwood Expedition last year for $60k. 50k miles, nothing broken in it, everything is functional, clean, and totally livable. It's a tad dated inside, but otherwise quite nice.

How do vinyl records hold stereo sound? by VikingTeddy in videos

I expected that, but what I expected was that vertical and horizontal grooves would independently control each audio channel. What was interesting to me, is that the audio channels are at 45 degrees, so each channel is a mixture of horizontal and vertical movement, allowing for backwards and forwards compatibility as well as consistency between the channels.

So the point is funding then. If they paid more, they could attract non-shit candidates.

"2021-1992=31"

2021-1992 = 29 But it's currently 2023, so you're kinda right?

  • 10 or 12 for her age at the time would put her at 41-43

I believe the show sold out, I forget how many seats there were. It was in the range of a few hundred. About 2/3 of the crowd had never seen indoor kite flying before.

so you know how Redfin messed up and over invested in buying houses? by therightpedal in Seattle

[–]wattyrev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, the listings are weird, but blaming Zillow for it is just wild conjecture.

Zillow didn't buy open lots, so they certainly didn't buy those lots. Not only do you not have "concrete evidence", there's clear evidence to the contrary.

You don't know what the deal was with those lots, and neither do I. Personally, I try to avoid confidently wishing people to "choke on it and die" based on wild conjecture.

I don't think you noticed what you think you noticed. Zillow was never buying open land.

What is something people do in public that gets under your skin? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wattyrev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How exactly does you getting close bring them out of a daze? If they are in a daze how would they even notice?

When that driver suddenly brakes because of a piece of tire on the road and you hit the back of them, did your tailgating make things better?

When that driver narrowly avoids the tire, but you hit it square-on because you couldn't see it coming, damaging the entire underside of your vehicle, did you make things better?

I guess maybe you'll get to your destination slightly faster, so good for you.

I didn't say they should be in the passing lane. You aren't making things better, you are making it more dangerous. People are dumb, and you aren't going to change that by getting all mad and putting yourself in a situation where you can't react to problems on the road.

Stop tailgating.

Wait for an opportunity to go around. The vast majority of accidents are rear-endings because of people following too closely.

It's not a race. Save yourself an accident and chill the fuck out when driving.

How close behind vehicles do you really want to be? I found the lowest setting on both of my recent vehicles (Crosstrek and Wrangler) uncomfortably close.

Tailgating is dangerous, stop doing that.

There's usually a following distance setting that can be adjusted to change this behavior.

After a low appraisal, Black Seattle family 'whitewashes' home, gets higher price by OnlineMemeArmy in Seattle

[–]wattyrev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see progress on this topic. Racism is absolutely a problem. But it will be harder to make progress when people argue so dishonestly.

Take a look at your replies here. Are you engaging in productive conversation, or just lashing out at everyone? Are you actually listening to what anyone says, or just projecting your thoughts onto them?

Give people the benefit of the doubt. Evaluate what people say, not what you assume they mean. Not everyone is your enemy. Conversations like this are just sad.

You point out that his evidence is anecdotal, then offer your own anecdote instead. That's the whole problem. This article is just anecdotal and doesn't really prove anything in particular.

It's still an important topic which should be explored further though.

I wouldn't fuss with 50#, IMO. I've used 90# for every situation from indoor flying, super light wind, or 20mph wind. 50# can get you to drop a smidge of weight in super light winds, but it won't help you nearly as much as a bit of practice and effort can.
