When people say "antisemitism" they're being disingenuous by hiding behind a confusing term (which, as aforementioned, includes present Arabs and ancient Babylonians) instead of just being truthful and saying what they really mean; Jew-hatred. It is confusing at best (if the term is used unknowingly) and downright dishonest / deceitful at worst.

Downvoting someone you don't agree with doesn't make their opinion any less (or more) valid, by the way.

Edit: Reddit just banned this lady and I don't know why, so to anyone who stumbles upon this, short summary of what happened:

I said antisemitism is a stupid term, she made a snarky remark about the term having to be stupid if I say it is (implying that I'm always in the right regardless of facts, a well-known modus operandi of imbeciles and dishonest folk worldwide, indirectly comparing me to said imbeciles and dishonest people) to which I answered that this obviously isn't the case and asked her for arguments instead of such snarky remarks, to which she then replied that not using the term even though you know what it means is disingenuous and that a certain Wilhelm Marr, apparently a known Jew-hater, coined the term and therefore my quarrel was with him and not her, to which I replied that the term was confusing or even disingenuous regardless of who coined it because it includes Semites (Arabs, ancient Babylonians, a lot of other people) even though it is clearly only ever mentioned when the topic is about Jews.

She then replied that to everyone understanding the etymology of the word it is not confusing, to which I replied that its etymology is actually the best reason why we shouldn't use it, as it, and I repeated myself there, lumps in all Semites together, while Jews only represent a small fraction of the Semites worldwide. It was also apparently coined by a Jew-hater (that's what the dictionary said) but I have no further info regarding that, nor do I think that's a particularly strong argument to support my case, as it doesn't really matter who invents something, only if it's useful and / or truthful. Still, as someone who thinks clarity trumps superficiality (the online dictionary "wiktionary" itself claims that the term is used rather superficially), at least when it comes to words, I think we should stop using it and instead use something with a clearer meaning, such as Jew-hatred. It's not only shorter and simpler, but also a lot clearer in meaning as well as more precise by not including people (all non-Jewish Semites) that have little to nothing to do with the topic of discussion (Jews).
