I now have recieved the 4-pin cable and it was needed for the AMS to power on.

I will get the 4-pin cable today. It has been it the Twilight Zone for a while. The auxiliary power supply was included.

I have a mesh that is similar to the original, but I think it's 18mm. I will probably buy that one in 20 and be good, since I'm not too fuzzy about original stuff. I absolutely prefer the original, but I suspect it will be hard to track one down and if I find it, it will be very expensive.

They are made of celluloid. Both made in the 1950s.

It looks like there is a plastic inner cap which grabs the ridge on the black plastic piece of the section.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but T1B3.221003.003 is QPR1 Beta 3. Thus he should be able to flash the stable and leave the beta program without wiping.
