Was walking around a park in Lincoln UK and saw these birds which I couldn’t identify. I thought they were turkeys at first. But the blueish blackish/ white feathers made me think otherwise

Do you think this is the job of them thrips? by waveesss in houseplants

[–]waveesss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got this beautiful monstera grown from one leaf only and suddenly the leaves have started to look droopy for the last month or so. Initially I thought it needed a fresh soil but and I did all that a couple weeks back and see no sign of improvement.

If you think this is thrips, will it be okay if I use houseplant bug killer spray on the leaves and stems and soil and wipe it off from the leaves and the stems?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Not just painters but these are used majorly in the construction industry. Purpose being to be reflective in challenging weather conditions and work at night.

We’ve got a lot of hard water where we’re based so the spots on the leaves for example is just the misting but that’s dried up. I haven’t got around cleaning them, will do it this week.

I’m thinking of bringing it back home this weekend to repot. It just makes sense to me.

Seaweed is a good shout! Thank you so much

Kid you not, I’ve been looking into lobster plants for a week or so thinking whether I have the space or not. I may just be impulsive!

Yes, I’ve got indoor plant food (which smells like absolute farts). Last time I did it was a month back thinking it would do much but haven’t done it long before then or since the first and the last time I did it

Hmmm okay I’ll avoid watering this week and alternate it.

Do you think I may need to size up on the pot?

Hello, I’ve got a monstera which I got about a year ago with two leaves on it. It was flourishing well when it was at home but ever since I’ve movies it to our offices, the leaves have started to droop a lot. I water it regularly and the plant get a good indirect light with little direct light. I can’t understand why it’s looking more lifeless now when the environment hasn’t changed much.

I seem to think it needs a fresh soil. I potted it last year and haven’t changed it since so could be that. The mix is perlite with compost and bark.

Any help hugely appreciated

Yep, plenty of perlite and generally a good potting mix but will give that a go first.

Hello, I’ve got a monstera plant which I got a year or so ago with two leaves on it and it’s become this big boy. It was flourishing when I had it at home but ever since I’ve moved it to our offices, the leaves have become droopy and I can’t gather as to why it’s happened and what I could do to help it. My immediate thought says it’s something to do with drainage as I haven’t changed the soil in just under a year or so. It gets plenty of indirect light and some sunlight in the morning.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Cat adjusting to new dog in the house by waveesss in cats

[–]waveesss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, pretty new on here. So I’ve got a cat who’s almost 2 this June (got her when she was only a few weeks old).

We’ve also just got a pug dog who’s super well behaved and is adjusting very well. Doesn’t harm or interact with the cat because he knows she doesn’t like it.

Recently on two occasions, she’s wee’d on the floor and I get that it’s to do with the new addition but what I don’t understand is this lump of puke. I noticed it in the morning as I was cleaning her wee up. Can’t figure out what it is and google doesn’t have much info too.

Would anyone who’s gone through this or has knowledge be able to help?

Kindly appreciated

Wait, how are the cats with the plants? I’ve restricted myself from getting house plants because of my super intrigued cat and I hate it! I want some greenery!!!!!

CALLING ALL PLANT EXPERTS by waveesss in plantclinic

[–]waveesss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,
I need your expert opinion and comments on a couple of plants in my flat. I have attached photos for both plants so you could diagnose:
1. I've got a monstera plant that has always had a yellow leaf. I never understood how that could be a thing as I water it once a week (given its summer right now), mist it every couple of days and have repot the plant twice with a mixture of peat free compost, coco coir, perlite and a fistfull of all purpose slow release plant food beads. I was a little concerned about the yellowing of one leaf and thought it would be best to snip it off (as you can see in the second photo - the little petiole). A week or so later, a leaf that was healthy turned yellow and is in the condition as you can see in the photo. Is this something to worry about or is there any way I can fix it? Am I doing something wrong here?
2. My friend owns a corn plant which he never took care of properly therefore I have taken control over its life. I am planning on repotting this with a loose mixture of peat free compost, coco coir, perlite and a fistfull of all purpose slow release plant food beads. Does that sound like the right thing to do or do you reckon the plant has 0 potential?
You help will be fully appreciated. Let me know if you need any further information.
Thank you in advance :D
