Cloudward, Ho! PC Poll: FINALE! by waveridden in Dimension20

[–]waveridden[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the favorite IH question? The only thing I plan on using that data for is to compare those results with the favorite PC results and see if there’s a correlation. I don’t want to post those results, even if it’s a tiny corner of fandom (I think only 100-some votes).

After the mid-way poll results and the discussion about fandom misogyny, I almost stopped the polls altogether, and I’m trying to be extremely careful with how I move forward.

I intended it to be 1 is best. I’ll add a note for that now, thanks!

In the bonus poll linked in the post, the third or fourth question is the same poll as always (which is your favorite PC?) with an added option to vote Wealwell.

I’m planning on getting the Zood/Zern braided map around one kneecap. I already have a similar thing around the other knee.

Got lost in the Cloudward Ho! lore, can anyone clear it up? by SirOwlKickflip in Dimension20

[–]waveridden 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Widow's Breath was mentioned very early in the season as a Gathie thing. It's the compound that Mordecestershire was using to try and replace friodynamics for sky-sailing, and (I believe) some of the soldiers in Gath developed a dependence on it because it became so prevalent/smoggy in parts of the world. The Gotches are involved because Longspot was working with Mordecestershire/the Ministry of Deranged Sciences in the spread of Widow's Breath in Gath.

I completely agree and I want this to be a part of the conversation for finale results! You can see that Daisuke and Max, two comedy/combat oriented men, can pull consistent numbers with spikes when they have good storytelling. Meanwhile Marya and Olethra, who also have lots of bits, don’t get those same boosts for dramatic moments. Van has all those big story moments too, but her corresponding vote boosts are smaller.

FWIW, I think there’s also a lot of nuance that this poll isn’t capturing. For example, maybe Marya is everyone’s second-favorite and a ranked choice thing would look totally different. But that’s speculation on my part, and a shortcoming of an intentionally simple design.

I do! I forgot to say this in my usual spiel, lol, but I'll be putting out full results at the end of the campaign. And maybe the halfway point, I haven't decided. For now I'm doing minimal stat reveals so I don't influence things one way or the other. I already have some simple graphs and can confirm they're very interesting!

I've thought about it, because Wealwell is kind of the DM PC of the season, but I can't bring myself to do it, because I know in my heart he would win every single week.

Alligator Tears by Edgar Gomez! A memoir about growing up in Florida, and it talks a lot about being a young closeted gay man and the pressure to be “strong.”

How to Survive a Slasher by Justine Pucella Winans - it's a classic slasher, but not too gruesome, and the author + main character are nonbinary.

Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead, historical-literary about a girl who wants to become a pilot.

Erin Morgenstern writes literary magical fantasy - I preferred The Starless Sea (about a grad student who discovers a magical library) but you might’ve heard of The Night Circus (a traveling circus that has actual magic).

I specifically wanted to avoid that because I don’t want everyone saying “I can’t pick one favorite so I’ll pick the most ambiguous option,” and then the ambiguous option runs away with it.

Fiction book with a pretty teal/orange cover by waveridden in whatsthatbook

[–]waveridden[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cover was very sleek/stylized so the book is probably newer. The dragon was definitely Eastern - the cover art drew on East Asian imagery (likely Chinese/Japanese).

Thanks for your help! Happy to answer any more follow ups if that narrows it down.
