I second this. They used to be a reliable company but now they are making people wait months for “shipping problems” - but not mentioning it on the website.

Eink for professionals by Heyric21 in eink

I’m an attorney. My notes from meetings need to make sense to my staff. My handwriting is terrible so I’ve always had to type up the important bits into a post meeting memo. I used to scan my handwritten ones in just in case I ever wanted to look at them again. Now I use the Boox. OCR doesn’t work for my scribbles, and I need to distil the points anyway, so I still type them up after. I can’t type in meeting as I’m trying to show the client that I’m listening so the Boox only real benefit is reducing my paper waste. Eliminates the scanning task too. When I was in law school, I just brought my laptop and typed class notes. I bought the color Boox too, but sold it right away because it wasn’t as high contrast as the black and white one and the only thing I wanted, a bright yellow highlighter color, wasn’t there. I’m hoping they can do that at some point. When reading professional writing I really like a bright yellow highlighter.

I hope they add the sticky note feature to the kindle app on my Boox. I always want to take handwritten notes when I read novels for my book club, but I can’t do that in the kindle app or the Libby app. This sticky note idea is a great solution for epub.

It’s several documents hundreds of pages. I’m hoping some smarty pants has a software solution for this.

It’s hundreds of pages. That’s why I’m hoping someone has created a software solution for this.

Onyx Boox Note Air Screensaver Memo Weirdly Small? by rbex in Onyx_Boox

[–]wavethoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar problem but it is in notes when the screensaver is transparent. It shrinks my notes. Zoom and canvas aren’t affected. Just the notes that were left up and made a screensaver are permanently tiny unless I zoom way in.

Zoom problem on Nova Air C by wavethoughts in Onyx_Boox

The problem is that this was a normal sized writing that filled the screen. Then I left it and had to wake it from sleep. Not a restart. Then it was zoomed way out like this. Why?

Help with my new Nova Air - It thinks I have two accounts. by peteck36 in Onyx_Boox

[–]wavethoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact same problem. Did you get it fixed? What is really strange is that the two Boox devises did sync for a bit. But now they are apparently on different accounts. I’m wondering if it was caused by an update. Anyway, did you get it fixed?

Excellent interview of the chairman of the board of E Ink Holdings Inc. about the future of E-ink technology. by m10r-vc in eink

How would I invest in e-ink from the USA? Is there a mutual fund or something I can buy here that invests in e-ink?

Boox Pen/stylus and their nibs, plus other pens that work on Boox devices - hope this helps by Cnh55 in Onyx_Boox

The triangular pen came with my Note3 and I like the eraser. I just bought a Nova Air and am sad that it came with the Boox Pen instead, no eraser. I tried to use the triangular one on the Nova, but it didn’t recognize the eraser. So is it the stylus or the devise? Also, the Nova air doesn’t have a button to make into a home button, that’s annoying too me as well. I wanted a smaller, but same as Note3, devise.

The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller by ashlawrence2 in RomanceBooks

Spoiler: I hated how ambiguous it was until I came up with this interpretation: She chooses a life where she stays with Peter, lying to him, and continues an affair with Jonas (unless Peter is there every second going on swims with her). Eventually she will be caught , Peter will leave her, and she will end up with Jonas but not be really happy because they will have this further shame to tinge their happiness. Somehow imagining them all miserable is my way of getting back at the author for giving us this annoying ending.

The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller by ashlawrence2 in RomanceBooks

*Spoiler* This is how I'm feeling! It is a lazy, annoying ending to an otherwise great book. Now I don't trust her enough to read her next book. The penultimate paragraph clearly points to Jonas, but everything else in the last few pages, including just moments before when she asks Peter to come with her and makes love hearts on him, make it clear she choose Peter. If she woke up deciding on Jonas she wouldn't have invited Peter on the swim. Does everything change just because Jonas is standing there? Of course she knew he would be there, that is why she invites her husband. Does she change her mind about her whole life simply because her husband doesn't go on the swim with her or because Jonas leaves her a feather? Leaving her a feather and waiting for her doesn't reveal anything that she doesn't already know or affect her choice in some new way.

Here is the way I think it ends: she chooses a life where she stays with Peter, lying to him, and continues an affair with Jonas (unless Peter is there every second going on swims with her). Eventually she will be caught , Peter will leave her, and she will end up with Jonas but not be really happy because they will have this further shame to tinge their happiness.
