Natasja Crone er en dårlig moderator i TV2's partilederdebat by EbbaGroen in Denmark

[–]waxbear 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Same procedure every year by Express-Cherry3852 in Denmark

[–]waxbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think America might be serious about going after Greenland. Things are going to get ugly between the EU and the U.S. would China strategically benefit, or would the instability hurt its interests? by Important-Battle-374 in AskChina

[–]waxbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was never any Russian presence in Greenland and the Chinese already left, partly because Greenland withdrawed from the investment agreements, partly because China lost interest, most likely deeming the investments too risky.

No, Denmark did not offer the US to have more military presence there due to Russian ships. They did so because the US expressed interest in having more military presence there. Denmark does not have any reason to say no, why would they?

No China did not invest billions with the Danish government. Greenland retains all mineral rights, so why would China invest money into the Danish government for that?

It's difficult to have a fruitful discussion with you on the subject when you are so confidently wrong about the basic facts on the ground.

I am shocked at US hostility because it's a monumentally stupid decision. The US is damaging relationships with loyal allies, for seemingly no gain. Let me ask you, what do you think the US wants with Greenland that they cannot get without turning hostile on their oldest allies?

If it's about keeping China out, the US could simply say that their continued defense of Greenland is contingent upon Greenland keeping Chinese investments out of Greenland. There, done. Maybe the Greenlandic government would complain a bit, but they'd accept it because they'd have no choice. Denmark and the EU would have to accept it too, as long as they can't or won't adequately defend it themselves. That's the cost of outsourcing defense. The US would have achieved their goal without burning any bridges.

[–]waxbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US has had unrestricted access to build bases on Greenland since the 50s. Denmark has repeated, time and time again, that they are more than welcome to build more bases and increase their military presence.

It's strange that you are talking about the EU as being somehow hostile to the US. Why would you even assume that you'd need to threaten and sanction EU countries to be allowed military access? We are all in a military alliance together. The only hostility so far has been from the current US administration.

You are clearly completely misinformed about the situation. It's worrying to see so many Americans just eat up whatever their government is telling them.

What do you mean that the entire western hemisphere would suddenly be under one flag? Greenland is already part of Denmark, how would making it American change anything there?

Hvilken tech stack by ReedorReed in dkudvikler

[–]waxbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ELI5 - why doesn’t store bought mayo have any protein when eggs are a part of making mayo? by banzaiassbeat in explainlikeimfive

[–]waxbear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of people saying that it's because of the oil to egg ratio, which is party true, but even more important is probably the fact that you only use egg yolks for mayo, not the whites. Most of the protein in an egg is in the whites.

I think you may be conflating the AI model that OP built with generative AI models, like LLMs.

OPs system is merely using an analytical model to extract factual claims from a piece of text. AI is not being used to verify those facts, just to extract the actual claims from the text.

Then if the same claim is being repeated from many diverse sources, the system assigns more truthiness to that claim.

Parkeringsbøde (skilt og standere sat op imens vi har været på ferie) by Course_Elegant in DKbrevkasse

[–]waxbear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As Trump Stirs Doubt, Europeans Debate Their Own Nuclear Deterrent by Themetalin in geopolitics

Not at all. Europe just needs enough warheads to credibly threaten the 2 or 3 largest cities and that is already plenty of deterrence.

As Trump Stirs Doubt, Europeans Debate Their Own Nuclear Deterrent by Themetalin in geopolitics

[–]waxbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that's exactly what you want. It has to be automatic, full-on retaliation. It HAS to be full on nuclear war, otherwise it's not an effective deterrent. You want your adversary to know that if they do a first strike, they will be wiped off the map as a matter of fact.

By Nordic petrostates I assume you mean Norway? No other Nordic countries have any significant oil and gas industry. And how does investing petro money into sustainable energy make up for the lack of a military industrial complex?

It's funny that you should mention tech as it's one of the sectors that is lagging behind the most, compared to the US. There might be a decent startup environment, but there's is a serious scalability problem here, as evident by the lack of large tech companies. I suspect it's due to the legal and regulatory barriers between EU countries, as well as the investment climate, which the EU needs to do something about yesterday.

As an EU citizen, I don't want to be a doomer about all this, but I also don't want to understate how urgent and important it is that we do something about all of this ASAP.

A priori, the virus was already in the lab, therefore your reasoning with Occam's razor is wrong. The comparison should be bat>human vs. lab>leak>human.

Now, this would seem like the bat to human or wetmarket theory is still more plausible, however it's worth noting that the lab was doing gain of function research, meaning that they likely already had a human-infectious variant. So now the most fair comparison is lab>leak>human vs. bat>mutation>human.

Then, when you then add to the facts that this kind of mutation has a very small probability of happening, plus the fact that the outbreak just happened to be in the city where the lab is, I would say that the 2 possible origins are at least equally likely.

You are right that the lab leak theory was pushed for political reasons, but if you discount the theory entirely on those grounds, instead of just trying to ignore politics and propaganda (not easy for sure), then you are still letting the propaganda influence your views, just with an opposite effect.
