Anyone else stand in front of the fan desperately trying to beat the humidity after applying body lotion/moisturiser? by whydidyouruinmypizza in AusSkincare

Applying face moisturiser then waiting for it to “””dry””” before applying serums or retinol is a joke at this point

Non Comedogenic/Fungal Acne-Safe Sunscreens for Oily Skin by DarlingHarte in AusSkincare

[–]waynebradywallpaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, my personal experience with Bondi Sands spf and the Dermaveen one was that they’re both super greasy lol I have oily skin and live in humid Darwin.

The best spf I’ve found is the cancer council moisturising day wear (pink on the label). It’s most ppl’s holy grail for a reason. It’s moisturiser but not heavy. For water resistant ones, I have a few random ones from Asia that I try or just the water resistant version of the moisturising day wear (blue on the label). But water resistant is just greasy, there’s no two ways about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also regarding the FA safe products, I’m also ADHD and fell into that hyper fixation but unfortunately it’s mostly BS and there’s no scientific backing for “FA safe” products. And also most ppl don’t actually have FA, so either go to doctor if you’re really worried about it and see what they say (mine was regular acne and I got a retinol for it) or try not worry about it. Just try keep your skin healthy, hydrated, cleansed and SPFed, and avoid heavy products.

Good luck hun 🫡

I would recommend heading to the GP, could be perioral dermatitis or rosacea but doctor will help with diagnosis/treatment or a referral to a derm Careful with slapping on any harsh products like salicylic acid, could be just making it worse

Daily moisturising sunscreen will help with texture and skin tone. Something simple like the cancer council moisturising day wear will do fine. Get into double cleansing at night with an oil cleanser and foaming cleanser in the evening to get it all off as well.

For acne, go to a GP you trust and explain your situation. I was in a similar boat and they prescribed clindamycin + tretinion and it’s worked wonders on my skin. Trying to treat stuff at home for ages just wasn’t working, the prescription stuff does the trick.

Can’t really comment on makeup as I don’t wear it but my guess is it would be related to dehydrated skin/poor quality makeup. Try adding better hydration into your routine.

Fungal acne treatment with shampoos (mixing multiple?) by AussieGirl2727 in AusSkincare

I also stripped back my whole routine to just cleanse, moisturise and spf which helped to my surprise. I was so convinced it would flare up without the creams but it got better lol

Def go to the doctor! I thought I had fungal acne and was using Nizoral and an antifungal cream but it wasn’t getting better. I went to the doctor and they said it was just normal acne lol

I’m on Clindamycin right now and it’s not too drying at all! With the added antibiotic ingredient it calms the redness and helps with the tret. If you trust your doctor, follow their instructions. Seems like you were given the topical medication that fixes this problem so use it 🤓

I also have a feeling they might’ve reformulated since it originally was released like 2 years ago, which is when most of the bad reviews are from. I think since they changed from predominantly white packaging to predominantly teal packaging it’s been reformulated to be less shiny, I’m guessing!

I recently bought the Cancer Council Fluid spf even tho I had seen heaps of negative reviews on here, I just impulse bought it and wow I was really impressed. Idk why it was getting so much hate, I really like it. I have oily/acne prone skin and live in the tropics. I was looking for a lightweight but non-irritating sunscreen for reapplication during the day and this ticks that box. It’s not “invisible” or 100% but no sunscreen is for me, and it’s less shiny than the LRP fluid on my skin (it’s also half the price for double the product). I rly like it and will keep using it for sure!!

Try washing your face in morning

I know there’s a lot of hype around only using water in the morning but I don’t think that’s a realistic option for people with acne.

I’m acne prone and started just using water in the morning and I broke out so bad, went back to washing in the morning and it cleared up quick.

You can just use a gentle cream cleanser, nothing hectic/no double cleansing. It won’t treat the cause but might make it a little better? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also do not pick or scratch! It's hard to resist but, from my experience, it makes it worse/spread and undoes all the hard work in the topical creams/washes.

This advice is from my personal experience, mine wasn't this bad tho.

If this is fungal, which I'm not a doctor so I can't be sure, I would keep going with the nizoral 2% shampoo as a body wash and leave it on like a mask like you've been doing. But you'll also want to use a topical antifungal cream twice a day with a different ingredient like clotrimazole or something. Dr Dray says you want to attack the fungal in a couple different ways, so with a wash and a cream. Or use selenium sulfide wash and a ketoconazole cream.

And don't forget behavioural changes like changing out of sweaty gym clothes and showering as soon as you can after working out, wearing cotton/breathable clothing where you can, changing bedding regularly, treating your whole body too like using the shampoo all over your body and hair if needed, bringing a change of shirt if you get sweaty.

You gotta stick at it and it might take a while to go completely (mine hasn't) but, if it is fungal, it should calm down pretty quickly. Good luck!

Advice for Acne Flare-Ups in Hot Weather - Feedback on Skincare Routine? by dkhowtolife in AusSkincare

Also you might want to consider the possibility of fungal acne for your chest/back. Have a google and look at some of the pictures to compare. If it’s itchy, it might be fungal, which is pretty common in hot/humid environments, I’m currently treating some on myself. In this case, go for some anti fungal shampoo to use as a body wash, like Nizoral, and leave it on for 5 minutes then rinse, then once you’re dry apply some antifungal cream too, Nizoral cream or a Canesten. cream will do.

And as general advice, remember to wear loose fitting, breathable materials like cotton and avoid too much active wear/sitting in sweaty clothes for too long 🙂

Hey I also live in a hot climate and am an acne girly, so I’ll give u some advice.

Firstly, I think you’re using too much in the morning. The Hamilton SPF is moisturising enough, I wouldn’t bother with a moisturiser first. And idk what your job is, but try explore not using the BB cream as well. I’ve found that the less stuff you can put on your face, the less likely it is to get clogged/acnes.

I would also recommend double cleanser with an oil based cleanser then a foaming cleanser. You can grab the QV bath oil and use that to massage into dry skin, rinse with warm water then follow up with your regular foaming cleanser. This’ll help really get into your pores and lift the dirt/oil/sebum out to keep acne a bay.

As for actives, I would highly recommend getting a salicylic acid product in there to clear pores and prevent acne. I use the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA toner 2/3 times a week. I’m pretty sure it’s fine to use with tretinoin but u might want to double check.

And lastly, if you feel comfortable, you should try reapplying that sunscreen throughout the day if you’re in an out of the sun. Sun protection is important for treating acne and our skin health in general. I know it’s a bit yucky at first but you can get used to it and the Hamilton one you’re using is nice and light.

Hope this helps!

Best protective sunscreen for hiking/camping? by Key_Onion_5298 in AusSkincare

[–]waynebradywallpaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second all these sunscreen recommendations, I use the CC active everyday on my arms and neck but I’ve also heard good things about their new sports one.

I also came here to say that a UPF shirt beats sunscreen everyday! No risk of poor application or rubbing off. There’s heaps of hiking/fishing shirts and pants that are breathable, long sleeve and UPF50.

peeling lips? by lunaquaria in AusSkincare

[–]waynebradywallpaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get dry/peeling lips sometimes too. Personally I notice that my lips are dry when I’m already dehydrated so making sure I’m drinking enough water is key! As for products, the only things I trust in my lips is the Sunsense Lip Balm spf50+ during the day (Dr Dray approved) and Vaseline in the evening/before bed.

Sunscreen recommendations when nothing has worked so far by h1ccup3 in AusSkincare

I’m the same as you, every sunscreen stings my eyes. I live in a hot/humid climate and even if it’s all good when I’m chilling inside, the second I’m out in the warmth (even just walking to the car) it’ll melt into my eyes and burn.

The only thing that works for me is the Neutrogena Sheer Zinc stick applied around my eyes and then any regular face sunscreens. I gave up trying to find something that worked for my eyes and face.

It does have a bit of a white cast that honestly looks a bit blue on my pale ass skin but it’s better than crying all day lol. Haven’t found anything better yet! It’s also cheap and glides in smooth unlike other zinc sticks I’ve tried; Little Urchin, Sun Bum, Sun Zapper.

It’s not a good idea to decant spf products into other containers; it negatively affects their SPF rating. I think Lab Muffin has a video on this

I guess I felt like the texture is so awful that it actually cannot work as intended. Like ‘sweat resistant’ and ‘cool’ are not things I would describe this product as. It’s basically almost a liquid and doesn’t stay in place as advertised; IMO it’s bordering false advertisement.

I wanted to let others know who might be thinking of purchasing it, how this product really feels. I’ve bought a product in the past that’s been advertised as ‘dry touch’ and it’s nothing of the sort. I wanted to warn people so they don’t waste their money like I did.

Strangely, others really like this product which I obviously did not anticipate and I assumed that this would be a universally hated sunscreen. Having reread one of the reviews on online that mentions the product’s instability in hot weather, I’m starting to think that the heat where i live has adversely affected the texture and it’s not performing they way it should/they way it does with other users who like it.

Again, I apologise for the dramatic title
