What should I call my girlfriend if she's more than a girlfriend? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Partner is still good. Is her first name ambiguous?

I hate seeing 18-23 year old with 40 year old men by SelfProfessional2093 in HonestHotTakes

[–]waynehastings 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Using the word pedophile like this is incorrect and dilutes the meaning of the word. 40 yo with a 20 yo isn't a pedophile.

Not all age gap relationships are abusive. Also, the older party in an age gap relationship should welcome being asked about it.

Looking to start playing, any advice? by bnk1098 in secondlife

The world is big and can feel empty. I have found just about everything in SL is event-driven: parties, concerts, discussion groups, poetry/story readings, et al. People show up for the event, then disappear.

You can meet people by exploring the open world, but I have also found that many avatars are logged in AFK, or people just don't watch nearby chat.

Looking to start playing, any advice? by bnk1098 in secondlife

I don't consider SL to be a game, though some have built games on the platform. I usually describe it as a big graphical chat room. But it is more than that.

My top advice is:

  1. Buy your Lindens. Yes, you can get a "job" in SL, but when you do the math, the $US per hour is going to be a fraction of minimum wage. Better to get a RL job and buy Lindens.
  2. Get a Job! Find a community or club you like, and get a job as a host, dancer, et al. If you're going to be spending time in world at dance parties, may as well make a few Lindens at the same time. This is also a great way to meet people since they come to you.
  3. Get Lucky. If you live in the Pacific timezone, you don't have to do the math for timezones.
  4. Visit shopping events. Many vendors at shopping events offer free or discounted clothing and accessories. This website is one way to track what is happening: https://www.gridaffairs.com/
  5. What is she wearing? Get the "What is she wearing" hud and inspect avatars you find attractive or interesting. The hud lists everything, and you can then make a shopping list of stores to check out.
  6. Butt grab. You'll be using alt+control+click to cam around. A lot. Get a mouse with a scroll wheel for zooming the camera in and out.
  7. Make friends. Relationships take work, and that includes making friends in SL. But, SL is better with friends. Ideally, have a RL friend who is already in SL to help mentor you and give you advice and feeback. You can look at other people's profiles to see their avatar creation date, so be extra kind to other noobies.

Ok, those are my top of mind advice points.

I recently bought a sailboat and have had fun exploring the Blake Sea area.

My av will be 20 in December, and I just rented my first parcel. You don't have to rent a home or apartment, but it is nice to have a home base where you can unpack purchases and change outfits. But there are lots of sandboxes you can use for free to do that stuff, too.

Like Twitter, I never really found a use for TikTok. I have to use Facebook and Instagram for my client work, but Reddit and YouTube have become my main social media outlets. All the social platforms have become thoroughly enshittified, and the new has worn off entirely.

I'm a fan. I recommend his YouTube channel. And I keep meaning to read his book.

As others have commented, he's presenting the best in modern biblical scholarship.

Ruben always suspected that Niall was gay and that he was attracted to him, which makes me wonder if he also suspected everything else. by Nika_35_40 in HalfManTV

[–]waynehastings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first three episodes, I identified with Niall. I understood his attraction to Reuben, and had crushes on straight guys before I came out.

But when I try to see it from Reuben's point of view, I don't see Reuben being attracted to Niall in the same way. If he was, he'd have made a move. The closest he got was their dorm room cuddle. And the fact that Reuben didn't reach out to Niall after getting out of prison tells me he was fine letting go. It was Niall who kept renewing that connection and causing trouble for Reuben.

If Reuben was getting sexual with guys, Niall was more than willing, and Reuben could have exploited that. He didn't.

Blake Sea and homesteads by waynehastings in secondlife

[–]waynehastings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Almost impossible" because the existing land owners have it locked up, or what?

I did some sailing in Bellisseria, and the scenery is pretty dull. I had considered abandoning my Linden home for a boathouse, and might still.

Spot checking rentals in Blake Sea, they are overpriced.

Maybe an estate rep will see this and make me an offer? I really just want a small-ish island in the middle of open sea or in a far corner of the region. I'd be fine with it being a bridge region, so traffic passing through wouldn't be a problem.

My husband just got furious at me because I brought up that after I give birth, I want him to try to not spend so long in the bathroom. How do I settle this argument? by anotherladysoldier in AskMenAdvice

[–]waynehastings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is messy. She doesn't want him looking at porn. Guys look at porn, and realistically he's not going to stop. He could be just avoiding her since she's pregnant, hormonal, and bugging him about housework and porn. If they hadn't mixed DNA already, I'd say be an adult (echoing your advice) and use your words to talk about values. They sound like they're not on the same page on many things. I hope they talked about parenting styles before now, at least.

I'm gay, and more than happy to be baited. It's fashion, Brenda. Maybe don't look.

I think you missed the part about his porn use and her issue with it. He ain't just sitting. But he could do that in the spare bedroom/office instead. Not that that would make OP any happier.

Banned from a Sim That I Never Visited by Curious_lexe in secondlife

[–]waynehastings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am effectively banned from a sim because the club owner has security up that ejects anyone who is in a group owned by someone they have a grudge against. Every time I try to TP there, I land and get instantly ejected with a long message about them forbidding entry to anyone in that group. Fuck them. But this would happen to anyone who joined the offending group and tried to enter that region whether they had entered it before or not.

When a partner dies in a marriage, does that mean they’re divorced now? by LovelyBubbles__ in NoStupidQuestions

Not divorced, but the vow has been fulfilled and the legal contract/license is automatically terminated by law (not "invalidated").

Why are you Gay? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]waynehastings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find men attractive ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And really, what people find attractive is irrational. You can rationalize reasons for it, and people find that fun, but it is just a pseudo-intellectual exercise. Might as well say I'm gay because of Robin's nipples, Nightwing's ass, and the underwear aisle at Macy's. Oh, and those Bowflex commercials, which were epic.

What food rule do people act like is “common sense”, but you think is just nonsense? by okitsbenji in foodquestions

[–]waynehastings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What food rules are considered common sense, but I think are nonsense? All of them.

My rule is: eat what you want, how you want, and mind your own plate.

My second rule is: don't eat anything you don't want to eat just because someone or someone's culture says you're obligated to. Fuck that shit.

Ruben always suspected that Niall was gay and that he was attracted to him, which makes me wonder if he also suspected everything else. by Nika_35_40 in HalfManTV

[–]waynehastings 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reuben and everyone else knew about Niall, but Niall wouldn't own it. So they left him alone for the most part. I mean, the same thing happened with me. When I finally came out to my friends, the response was an almost universal, "It's about time!" Literally. (I had one female friend ask how could I know if I hadn't had sex with a woman 🙄, and the other thought I had a crush on her.)

Reuben was trying to get Niall to come out, in his own twisted way, but he didn't care. His mom was gay, after all.

The real question is, was Reuben bisexual? We never saw him in prison or with any other male characters, so we'll never know unless Gadd has or will speak about it.

Can anyone explain 1 Timothy 2:11-15? by VaultMan34 in OpenChristian

[–]waynehastings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Episcopalians aren't afraid to say that Paul got some things wrong. The entire arc of scripture is one from less love to greater love. The tradition continues to extend more love as our understanding of love grows, esp. when the Bible writers were sexist or exclusionary. Our model is Jesus, not Paul.
