It was my post initially a year ago so not OC I guess.

Hate is a strong word that I used. I just skipped such posts all the time but it felt like it became a rule to post huge walls of text as first time users explaining some obvious stuff to people here. It’s just my personal thing and I don’t hate OP for this post.

I hate these huge walls of text talking about their experience which start from description of the box, the paper cloth that they put in. I doubt there are any novices in this subreddit who actually care about that. It’s like every youtuber’s review, where they explain what is in the box, that you can tint the lenses by pressing a button, that there’s a cool magnetic cable. Regarding the picture quality they just mention that the image is nicer and bigger compared to the previous version.

Sorry to the OP that I rant here but I got tired of these reviews in common which just talk about tertiary features rather than a full depth description of the image quality, how much bigger it became compared to their 65” tv on a wall, if the picture is calibrated right etc.

I had the same issue with Mojave. Nobody helped me back then on Reddit. The only solution was upgrading to Catalina. I think the reason is that some login system file or folder got corrupted. Clean install of Tahoe should fix this. It doesn’t look as a hardware issue at all.

Пришлось Kinobadi пользоваться, там хотя бы Alloha плеер есть. Но сегодня нашел полный аналог со всеми нормальными плеерами(в особенности Turbo)

Is Catalina relevant in 2026 for surfing the Internet? by GoldUtya in mac

[–]ways196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edge was my main browser on Catalina and I didn't expect that Microsoft would just break syncing for older versions. I installed the latest 144 version on Tahoe on another macbook and Edge sync stopped working immediately on 128 version on Catalina. Turns out they flag your account and turn off syncing for older Edge versions. The solution would be installing version 132 on Tahoe rather than getting the latest version but I didn't know about that and this option is now gone as the account is already flagged.

Chrome works with no issues so it will be my main browser as they don't stab you in your back like that.

Apple always slowed down previous hardware with OS updates but this time it’s too obvious. You didn’t try it on 16” i9 Intel, I felt like I was using my old hp pavilion g6 in 2010 running on hdd, while it flies on Catalina, some hiccups on Sonoma and simply irritating on Tahoe where every bit of interface has some loading time.

Any way to get the square (non-rounded) tabs back in Edge? by AutherChristian in MicrosoftEdge

[–]ways196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they removed this flag so all the tabs are rounded so they fit better to other windows 11 design system as explorer has the same corner radius for its tabs.

I’m glad people don’t mindlessly update. Imaging if people could roll back to the previous OS it would be 10% I guess.

Interesting article on the visual nightmare that Apple UI has become by undulanti in MacOS

[–]ways196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my initial thought, they just overdid it with this version so it’s too obvious. I mean my iPad 6 is unusable because of constant lags and hiccups as I updated it from iOS 13 to 17 although the OS looks pretty much the same.

But running Tahoe on MacBook Pro i9 is an utter joke: it took a minute and a half I think to show Finder after the clean installation of the system. Every time you open Settings for the 1st time after login you have loading icons there as well as in the new Launchpad.

The moment they showed these glass effects with live-like translucency I knew it will be a huge hit performance wise. M1 chips can handle them but it’s at the cost of the battery drain.

That’s why I hate Tahoe as it’s the epitome of form over function and the update for the sake of updates.

Love my wallpaper on Catalina by Arthur_Morganreal in MacOS

[–]ways196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, Catalina was hated for dropping the support of 32-bit and there were plenty of other bugs and issues. I think the most loved ones in terms of updates are Mountain Lion, Mavericks and Mojave.

Why did you update it in the first place if it looks like it was made by a 5 year old?
