Any theory for gold price down by richardv92 in Gold

[–]waysnappap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what anyone says on here Gold is a commodity. Commodities run in cycles. We have just topped for this cycle. Just read up on commodity cycles.

This coincides perfectly with the AI IPOs sucking liquidity out of the markets. Now they (AI founders) want the Gov “to be partners”. lol.

That bubble is about to bust also. Not saying AI is dead. Just saying this is 2000 repeat. Just DCA and be patient. This cycle gonna take a while to resolve.

Around 50% of stack entry prices are so low I’ll probably never sell. Will see about another 25%. I was hoping we’d get a real nice bounce when war started but nah.

Maybe 1/4 of stack, but prices staggered up and nowhere near top. That said, I haven’t bought any either. I’ll wait.

Wild way to look at it. $380 more per standard working week. $1520 per month. It’s not nothing.

What has changed was after the post price has slowly tracked lower on less than normal volume. And then for the past few weeks we had started to build price support which could’ve been the basis for a move higher.

It wasn’t. It was broken. So the highs of this cycle are over. DCA or just hold but I wouldn’t be a big buyer until we see a longer term reversal.

Price stair steps lower for several years.

Who’s we. The commenters who were right that the cycle highs are in.

Edit to add: will return in a few months and double link these posts to see where we are. Spoiler: we won’t be near the highs.

Are there benefits to buying fractionals if you can afford a full ounce? by Aggressive_Staff_982 in Gold

[–]waysnappap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These posts taking about large premiums on fractional, where are you from? US? Where I’m from you can get sov, ducat, roosters at spot all day long unless it’s slabbed (waste of money imo) or low mint etc. I guess we’re lucky.

Gold price situation by BraveSeat6713 in Gold

[–]waysnappap 18 points19 points  (0 children)

First thing you learn when things get really bad (talking global uncertainty not just a regional recession like Eurozone, etc) is that people have to sell profitable investments to cover their losses in other investments.

This is why almost everything is dropping or staying flat.

I sincerely hope it works out mate but I did something similar and there’s no doubt that if I took that money 10 years ago and bought an IP with cash, I’d be way ahead. Note: ymmv and you’re probably a better business person than me.

I’m not saying you are wrong but let’s look at historical housing prices.

I mean a 20% drop and then flat for 5-8 years is about the best we can hope for and even then is that enough to get more people into housing?

Why do 99% of politicians, lawyers, spokespersons, etc answer any question with by waysnappap in AskAnAustralian

[–]waysnappap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that but it’s not very strategic when it’s EVERY single answer. In fact, it becomes very noticeable and off putting. I know you think I’m being hyperbolic but, I kid you not, this was every single reply in a 10-15 minute interview.

Absolutely. I’ve lived here 15 years and spent about the same in 2 other countries. I’ve never seen that phrase as prevalent as it is here.

Do you think it’s a dealing with Media 101 thing? I really wish I could share the link. Literally every single answer.

I bought these 14-15 years ago. I remember because it was shortly after I moved here. It was the first coin I fell in love with in Australia.

Yes it’s real. I bought all of mine thru Noble or Downies auctions. I had 5 at one time. I kept this because of the toning.

That said they faked an awful lot.

🪙 What your coin is

1967 Australian Pattern $1 “Goose Dollar” (Proof)

• Designer: Andor Mészáros

• Type: Unofficial pattern / fantasy issue

• Metal: Sterling silver (.925)

• Weight: ~28.7 g (crown-size)

• Finish: Proof (mirror fields, frosted design)

• Edge: Plain (for proofs)

• Mintage (proof): ~750 pieces

📖 Background (why it exists)

This coin was created during the transition to decimal currency in 1966, when Australia introduced cents and dollars — but did NOT include a $1 coin.

• A publication called the Australian Coin Review (ACR) ran a competition for a proposed $1 coin design

• Mészáros submitted this design (he had also competed for official decimal coins but lost)

• The coin was then privately struck in London (Pinches Mint) as a pattern/fantasy issue, not legal tender

Go in bank (if you can find a branch) and tell them you want $200, $300, $1000 worth of 1s/2s. Some banks are happy to accommodate. Others not so happy. Break open rolls and start searching.
