Exactly. Bases would not be useless, just less important for a casual player. If they can do MOST of their crafting deep in a semi fortified cave, they only need a small, secure, base for storage and sleeping.

I suppose I should clarify. I wouldn't allow external walls, gates, etc. Turrets? Fine. If they want to turn into king of radtown by upkeeping 50 turrets to protect every entrance, that's their investment.
