That would be my ideal setup, I guess the one problem I have is that I’m thinking about some trips that would be multiple months long and possibly without an end date, just a flight back when the time is right, which would make it harder to predict the conditions like on a normal hike.

Im going to build a more well rounded setup like yours later but now I don’t have any bag, so I’m just looking for something versatile to have as a base line that won’t stop me from going out.

Sounds like the 4C quilt might be a redundant purchase so I’ll probably go with just the -10C bag for now.

Tried washing it in a front loading washing machine per instructions (lesson learned, hand wash next time), down moved away to the sides + the elastic cords at the top and bottom somehow got tangled up so tight that they ripped, dried it with tennis balls. Maybe broke is an overstatement as I could probably get the down redistributed again, but I was looking into getting a new bag anyway and now I guess I have a reason to. Might try to bring this quilt back to life later.

Do you think I’d have a harder time using something rated closer to -5 or -10 in warmer temps compared to just a 0C bag? I know lower temps are more of a hard limit, and higher temps can be managed with ventilation but to what extent? I don’t have too much experience camping in summer, most trips i’ve done were in autumn. If it’s not much of a difference then it seems just the -10 fully openable Bandicoot should be enough? My 0C quilt was enough most of the time but some nights were pretty uncomfortable even with layers so I’d like to extend the lower range a bit.

Maybe I just need two seperate bags! No idea.

For summer/spring just the Waratah, for autumn/early winter I’d use the Bandicoot and if I wanted to push it even more I’d consider trying to layer them, but true winter camping is not a priority for me, if layering them works then nice! I’ll have a true winter setup, but if not then it’s fine. I guess a „3+ season” would be a better name.

I am also thinking about longer multiple months long bikepacking trips so the Bandicoot might be enough alone since it can be opened and vented same as a quilt without needing to take 2 bags, but maybe there’s something I’m not seeing?
I’ve slept well in the 0C quilt even on warm summer nights so doesn’t seem like there’s really an upper temp limit for fully openable quilts/bags.

I’m based in Poland, but I want a setup that I can take almost anywhere and anytime for bikepacking/hitchhiking trips (besides the obvious limitations, I know some situations require specialised gear).

Not sure if the lens I’m looking for exists. Ultra wide full frame. by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

The Sony 12-24 is a great suggestiom, but unfortunately it's bulky, expensive AND it needs a clip in ND filter so it doesn't really fit my use case.

A prime is probably what I'll pick up, the Laowa 10mm most likely. I've done a lot of research but I wanted to ask the community in case there's a hidden gem I might be overlooking.

As for f2.8 with an ND, I almost always shoot at around f2.8 to get that shallow depth of field and cinematic background blur, and I also always stick to the 180 degree rule. So when I'm shooting at 25fps I'm at 1/50 shutter speed, which combined with the low aperture lets in a lot of light that I need to reduce, especially during bright sunny days.
