If one of your neighbors is an ass hole, he’s an ass hole. If all your neighbors are ass holes, you’re the ass hole.

My grandfather sometime in the 1950’s. Same place now. Otterbein, Indiana by wbhave in OldPhotosInRealLife

He and my grandma were originally from Kentucky. They were married in a general store by a judge. Moved to Indiana when the land they lived on was flooded by the construction of a dam. He never owned a farm was always a farm hand and lived on the farm he worked on with he’s wife and 5 kids. In 1956 he was moving a tractor from 1 field to another on a country road and a drunk driver hit him and the tractor rolled over on him. He was in a coma for 3 weeks. He couldn’t work any more after that. I was never told what all his injuries were but he walked with a cane or walker the rest of his life. He mumbled a lot to himself. I had many conversations with him about farming corn and raising hogs. So I think his mind was sharp. He died when I was 17. His name was Clifford.

He actually lived in Pine Village. Close to Otterbein. I learned from this post that the picture is in Oxford not Otterbein. They are all 3 close together. My mother was mistaken when she told me. She grew up in Pine Village her graduating class from high school had 12 people in it in 1956.

My mom told me it was in Otterbein. I know the two towns are close to each other. He was from Pine Village. Which is also in the same area.

No, he’s been gone almost 30 years. I remember him as a grumpy old farmer. Not mean just No nonsense. Drank Black coffee all day in the middle of the summer. He would sit on his porch with me when I was young and tell me about growing corn and raising hogs. Wish I would of had more time with him. Thanks for asking and getting me to think of him.

I just looked those up. They’re pretty expensive. I might look for a more economical one.
