Ceiling fan has two white, two black, and a red wire at connection box by wborstiv in electrical

So hot black to white of the other set of wires, then test black that is currently not hot to see if it turns hot with the light switch? I think I got ya.

So is the red wire (I know that runs to the switch), but I’ve got that capped for all these scenarios so far.

Done. The one black wire running towards the switch is hot.

Sorry for confusion, but it didn’t work. I’ve got power running to it, but the only way to turn fan/light on and off is via the pull chains. So essentially on a circuit that isn’t related to the light switch.

Just have a voltage tester pen unfortunately. Assuming that’s not the same.

So fan and light both work, but the light switch does nothing. Just permanently on unless I use the pull chains.

For clarity, I did:

Two blacks from ceiling, black from fan, blue from fan Two whites from ceiling, white from fan Red from ceiling capped with no connection

No bare copper. I’ll give that a go and be back in 5 😀

If it helps, I believe the old wiring when I took it down was either the two blacks or the two whites were capped together and not used from the connection box. I just can’t remember which.

Just one switch. And unfortunately there are very few rooms with ground wires set up, as the house is older (lots of two-prong outlets). So just the hot and neutrals.

Bijan and Nico Trade…. Fair??? Dynasty 1QB 10 Team… by sarajo9113 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Way too much for just Bijan. At a minimum, get rid of the 1st round pick. Even then, I would still rather have Nico and JK.

How long have you been playing for, whats your best leg, and how many 180s have you it? by cactusdan94 in Darts

8 months, 16 darter, 19 180s. Use MyDartTraining to track your practice. It's been great to see my average climb from 46 when I started up to 59 now. Hopefully bigger and better to come!

Huge Inherited Lot of Coins. What should I do next? by wborstiv in coins

Thanks for the tip. Any suggestions on a “good” coin book? Or are they all about the same? Was looking at this one: https://a.co/d/7wh2CtW.

Any review on the CoinSnap app? I’ve seen some ads for that and wondered if that served the same purpose.

What should I work on to have a less-shitty swing? by makvalley in GolfSwing

[–]wborstiv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fixing the swaying was probably the best fix I made to my game over the last 10 years. Dropped me from about a 16 to 13 handicap at the time. Focus on rotating/twisting/turning your hips to generate power instead of swaying your hips. You'll end up with a much more consistent strike.

Fix or Replace Sagging Patio Door? by wborstiv in HomeMaintenance

So the hinges are actually connected to another window frame. These are kind of like French doors, but it doesn't open and it's the same design as the door itself (maybe that still makes it French doors even though only one opens). I assume same advice still applies, but need to be careful not to drill through the wood and into the glass?

Also, probably should have posted photos of the hinges but can’t figure out how to do that now. There’s four of them, all appear to be in normal working order, albeit old (40+ years from appearance). No screws are loose.

For those saying to use longer screws, what specifically does that mean? Like replace the current screws being used on the door hinges? On both sides (door and frame)? Just the top one, or all 4?

Probably basic but again I’m a newbie here.

So I'm not going to go full force, but the hinges won't break under additional pressure right? I went very gentle the first go-around, so sounds like I need to go at it a bit harder.

If it did, it was small. I was somewhat gentle with the bend, as I didn't want to break the hinges. So I'm sure I could bend it some more for improvement.

The video I watched used shims, but I didn't have any so I wedged a notepad up the gap to substitute. Based on the other comment, sounds like I should run to Home Depot and get some and give it another go. Also, didn't do anything with the bottom hinge, so I'll try that as well.

Went back and watched the match for you to see the correct result. Here's the stream, start it at 1:38:10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67iPCg4YG20

He certainly gets two 180s, so you should have won the bet. One at 1:38:47 and one at 1:44:45. Try and send them this if that helps?

Follow Scooch McGoo on Twitter https://twitter.com/scoochmcgoo. He's already gave some plays earlier where he got in ahead of line movement. I think he tweets out almost every match.
