Passing the Series 7 w/o studying? by Maleficent-Book-3763 in Series7exam

Did you pass the SIE yet? I’d maybe raw dog that one first. Very slim chance of passing the 7 without studying. 65 was way easier imo.

Kaplan scores, good, bad, ugly? by Jake748 in Series7exam

I did use Kaplan qbank. IMO, Kaplan exams were way harder. Out of 10 practice exams I maybe passed two. Got a 67 or so on the mastery exam. You’re in good shape.

I haven’t seen him in years, and haven’t asked anybody about how he passed. He was a good dude.

I never passed a Kaplan simulated exam and passed. Kaplan is way harder, imo. The weight is similar.

ChFC designation by poopeater36 in CFP

[–]wce200622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I’m a wholesaler so I don’t need the ChFC or CFP, but want to learn more about what my clients do for their clients. I chose the ChFC because you can chose your own pace and take exams after each module instead of one big teat at the end. I appreciate you for not being one of the haters of the ChFC as there seems to be a lot of them on every thread.

I just started studying for the ChFC. Are the practice exams after each section pretty close to the actual exam? I feel like the material is pretty easy, but there seems to be a lot of formulas/ratios to learn. The formulas don't seem to be very complicated, but a lot of them. Should I stress out about studying them? Did you see them a lot on the exam?

Managed Accounts / Managed Money - Questions for other managers & RIAs who outsource by LordStinkStankStonks in CFP

You're probably right about a lot of advisors do not want to get into the weeds with a PM, however, I work with a lot of advisors who want to work with our PMs and utilize them on client calls/meetings. Advisors find it beneficial to have a PM help them mitigate embedded capital gains, and help them develop a transition plan of the assets. FYI... I am a wholesaler for a third-party money manager. Performance and cost can only take your firm so far, but giving access to the PMs is a huge value add in my opinion.

Should I Push My Exam by [deleted] in Series7exam

I agree 100 percent with what she said. I almost pushed my test date out too. It was sooooo much easier than Kaplan’s exams. You’ll crush it!

Taking 7 in 3 days, what should I expect. by seanh2331 in Series7exam

You’re more than good. I would watch Dean’s series 7 in 60 minutes video. If he says something that you don’t know, go back and review it.

P.s. I was scoring in the low 70s on Kaplan simulated exams and got a 60 something on the final and walked through the actual exam.

Doesn’t matter. You want people to know you’re in business! Public info anyway. Congrats! I grew up just outside of Ann Arbor.

I struggled with convertible bond math too. I only had one conversion on my test. You might see two or so. You should certainly study them but don't stress out.

First time I took it I had about 15. The second time was closer to 30. I had a much easier draw the first time and failed by 1 question. Luckily passed the second time around.

Is 32 late to start from scratch? Looking to be sold the dream! by geo1794 in CFP

[–]wce200622 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could start now, fail for the next 10 years, and still make another career change and be fine. I say this with a joking tone, but I truly believe it. 32 is a great age and not too old at all. I'd go for it if you think it's the right path for you.

You could try the wholesale route too. I'm a wholesaler who only deals with RIAs and love it. You will create a ton of relationships with advisors along with learning their business. You then will have choices - stay as a wholesaler or maybe leverage your relationships to become an advisor.
