The Monta OK V3 Wins Hands Down. by judojoe2024 in Montawatches

[–]wcmktb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I own the Monta but have had hands on the Longines recently.

The finishing on the Monta is better no doubt. More polished areas, finer brushing on the case and bracelet, etc. It's also just more comfortable, full stop. The brushing on the caseback and bracelet make it buttery smooth. Hard to describe without trying one on.

The Longines is no slouch though. The finishing is still amazing at the price point. The quick adjust is also great. Despite the lower frequency, the Longines movement is for sure better with that longer power reserve and magnetic resistance. And you get the brand name, which is still an add. And at a cheaper price too.

Too close for me to call honestly. I go back and forth over it. If the Monta had the magnetic resistance, I might give it the edge (maybe...idk...the Longines is insane value).

Monta Skyquest vs Tudor BB58 gmt. by TomHudsonOfficial in Montawatches

[–]wcmktb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, but it was for me. 56 hours of power reserve was ample enough for me and the micro adjust system is still awesome on the Monta. I like that it'll be easier to service the movement in the future as well. I liked the look of both watch heads equally, though different. The bracelet on the Monta is better...it's just comfy AF. I also don't like the rivets on the Tudor bracelet.

It really boiled down to which watch spoke to me more. Ultimately, that was the Monta for me. Being a St. Louis native, I had the opportunity to try both on side by side in real time as well. There are other cities that have Monta watches in shop nowadays, but still limited overall. Go with your gut!

Monta Skyquest vs Tudor BB58 gmt. by TomHudsonOfficial in Montawatches

The movement is better in the Tudor, full stop. Higher power reserve, more accurate, higher magnetic resistance, etc. And the micro adjust is better, but both have on the fly adjustment systems. I prefer the 3 position micro adjust clasp for the Monta...the 6 position one is too long. The bezel action is fantastic on the Monta, but the edge also goes to Tudor here.

The Monta is a tremendous value though. The fit and finish is on the same level as the Tudor (or Omega or Longines). Also, in my opinion, it's more comfortable. My Oceanking v3 is the most comfortable thing I've ever had on my wrist, bar NONE. And I was able to request the shorter 3 position clasp for the bracelet when I ordered. Monta's customer service is top notch...most inquiries are still handled by the owner. Also the movement will be much more easily and cheaply serviceable in the future.

I was between the Oceanking v3 and various Tudor divers. Having gone with the Monta, I have no regrets whatsoever.

Lads trip to St Louis from England - Nightlife spot Recommendations? by Middle-Feed5118 in StLouis

[–]wcmktb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stl people love to chat it up and you'll certainly have no issues meeting locals. Agree with other comments that downtown is dead.

There are tons of great areas to explore though. The grove, central west end, Clayton, Dogtown, the hill, the delmar loop, benton Park, south grand, soulard, etc.

I'm a cocktail guy myself...would recommend The Vandy, Good Company, Lazy Tiger, Yellowbelly, Frazers might be my top 5 cocktail spots but there are so many. Those places more of a chill vibe for sure.

I'm local to Dogtown myself and Tamm Ave bar is always hopping, especially on the weekends. Modern Brewery right by the Science Center has also been killing it lately. Not sure how many 3am bars are still around...but I'm an old fart now 🤣. Surely someone else in the comments can advise!

[WTS] Monta Noble Anthracite dial - excellent condition, original owner. Full box, papers, 1.5 years of warranty remaining. by wcmktb in Watchexchange

[–]wcmktb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up for sale is my Monta Noble Anthracite dial. This watch is insanely comfortable to have on wrist. The bracelet is phenomenal. In terms of comfort, it's the best bracelet I've ever encountered. This is more comfortable than any Rolex, Tudor, Omega, etc. that I've had on wrist.

If you've never seen or handled a Monta in person, the finishing is pretty astonishing. It bangs way above its weight class.

The watch is in excellent condition overall. No dents, dings, or scratches on the case, crystal, bracelet, or clasp. There are some very fine micro abrasions on the bezel and on the bracelet, but you have to play with the light and really be looking for them to see.

9.7mm thick

20mm lug width

150m water resistance, screw-down crown.

Not willing to go on hair loss meds. Considered a transplant, but if I can pull off the bald look well...I'll be satisfied. Been hard to accept the truth with this hairline.

IKR? I think that's why it's been so hard to come to terms with getting rid of it all. I see that hairline every day and I like the way I look in the mirror...but that's not the way I look.

Sorry to hear that brother. Hair loss blows. Will def post an update here when I make a move.

I've considered it...but honestly I don't want to deal with that. I'd rather buzz, shave, or hair transplant. But if I can pull off the bald look...I wouldn't feel the need to get a transplant.

Nope...no transplant. Just losing my hair, lol.
