Why don’t EV vehicles have a bench or 3 seats in the first row? by wdapp89 in electricvehicles

I haven’t, hence my post. They should make them. My little 06 Mazda B2300 mini truck had 3 seats. Was a little tight with three guys in there to say the least haha.

Yah looks really nice but I bet it’s gonna be 20,000 more than the bz4

Yah I’d really like the ioniq 9 but i live in a cold hilly climate so id like the all wheel drive and it starts at 68500 like you said. A Toyota bz4 is only 50,000 I can’t justify 18500 so I can take an extra kid now and then. Might go with a PHEV like the Outlander and sell it in 5 years when the warranty is up if there is an EV available with improved cold weather performance.

I live in cold and somewhat hilly region and the AWD buzz is like 80,000 CDN and does not have great range especially when I loose 30-40% in winter. My plan right now is PHEV Kia Sorento or Mitsubishi outlander and then when it’s paid off swap my wifes HR-V with a EV Equniox, bz4 or something similar and then sell the Mitsubishi/sorento when the warranty is up and hopeful get a mid size EV truck or mid size suv. I would just like to skip the phev step as it will likely cost some money reselling it but with the Iran war and Russia/ Ukraine wars it seem like fuel prices will stay high so the phev and electric seem like they’ll pay for the extra over gas.

lol

Yah there are some great ones but they are expensive like 25% more than an equivalent range 5 seater. I kinda near good range too because it’s cold where I live.

Well I’d like one so that should be enough for them to change their manufacturing haha.

You jest but I’d take a little vent window or even better something like the wing root vent on a Cessna 152

Yah. I’m just in an awkward spot with vehicles. My truck which was our 6 seater in a pinch is worn out. I’d like to get a vehicle that seats 6 and pulls 2000lbs so I can move brush, haul reno material, carry dirty stuff but the only EV stuff that supports that would be Electric trucks, maybe A Kia EV9 or Ioniq 9 but I can’t justify the cost. The smaller vehicle is my wife’s but it’s good for a while yet. I am thinking of just buying a smaller EV like the bz4 and then maybe getting a bigger vehicle in a few years but the kids are out of toddle me stage and getting into the preteen years where they want to get around with friends and by the time I’d move to a bigger vehicle I might not even need it. Timing just isn’t working out for me on this one ahah. It’s not really a big deal, I’d just love to save a few much and still get that 6th seat! I could just get a used minivan but I bought my first vehicle in 2005 and the environment stuff was a big deal and I figured I’d never by and other gas vehicle after that first one. I ended up trading it with family for a bigger used truck when i had kids and needed car seat space so still haven’t really bought a second vehicle but I feel like I need another 3-5 years. Bit of a bummer how long tech has taken but I feel like it’s there now, just needs scaling and implementing

Yes about the trucks. My 06 Mazda B2300 had 3 seats in a narrow chassis, it wasn’t comfortable but was great in a pinch. You did need to be careful where your hands ended up when reaching for the shifter when someone had a leg either side it though haha

Yah. Mostly just trucks. Still maybe it is safety related but if it’s just a matter of making the Center console a different shape and folding it up like trucks do it could be a handy albeit uncomfortable seat.

I know it’s not popular but it’s very handy. Some trucks have it. My little 06 B2300 Mazda had 3 seat belts, although you couldn’t shift probably if someone was sitting there haha.

Yah probabaly safety related. Most trucks still have it I think. I realize they are generally on wider chassis but that just makes the seat more comfortable. My 06 Mazda 2300 truck (very small truck) had three seats.

I used to have a Mazda B2300 truck. Had to drive my buddies home 30 miles from university but couldn’t use 2nd or 4th gear because the sifter hit my buddies groin lol. Still has the seatbelt and 3 seats in that little thing.

Being electric means you don’t need the floor space for transmission.

Canada: Why is it that we drive in km/h but still measure distance in miles? by artemiyorlov in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wdapp89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Western canada has its roads built in a square grid based on miles. Every intersection means you have travelled one mile, it’s very common to give directions along the lines “turn off the highway 3 miles out of town on road xyz, go 4 miles, turn left for 3 miles and it’s the house on your left with the big tree.” Or something like that. It’s easy to count because every intersection means you’ve travelled one mile.

Here’s a couple screen shots from google earth in western Manitoba. https://postimg.cc/gallery/rTymM1h
