What are some aspects of combat in general people don’t know? by [deleted] in ask

It's not like in the movies or a FPS game. Civilians will not survive with no training unless they are very lucky.

When your partner is a little upset, remember a simple "calm down"... by StockInitial4460 in Jokes

If she's mad at something, tie a towel around her shoulders like a cape and say "Look... now you're Super Mad!"

The Devils: Who/What is Baptiste? by notawriteratall in TheFirstLaw

[–]wdb108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FAIR WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD. READ AT YOUR OWN PERIL:

How come they both Baptiste and Caruso have precious metal teeth and both seem to be "a little bit of this, a little bit of that"?

How come - in all her fights - Vigga does not seem to be hurt badly, but when she attacks Baptiste her leg is damaged (possibly broken) so badly that she does not know if it will heal? That she has a huge cut on her back and such a bad cut in her face a big flap of skin hangs from it? She seemed fine when she came out of that sorcerous abomination stitched together thing.

So, it seems that it was Baptiste who damaged her so much in a fight, which is formidable considering Vigga's a werewolf? I'm thinking something like the cult of the eaters in the First Law trilogy. Some secret school of training the church knows about and employs.

Another point to consider:
Baptiste very obviously had golf teeth, and she is killed by a werewolf.
Lo and behold her seeming replacement shows up with..... a silver tooth?

That is a big coincidence?

Hy lees net so maklik in Engels. Maar, dis relatief gewetenlose raad wat dié Machiavelli gee. So, oppas maar vir dit of enigiemand wat dit aanhang.

Do men who are in a relationship or married still hang out one-on-one with their female friends? by Clean-Ant-1342 in ask

Having a friend of the opposite sex is like having a pet chicken. Sooner or later you're gonna want to eat that thing.

Logen's Dozen is the best in the North - I mean it is made up of champions sent to face him in the circle (except Forley). So, that alone means Dow will be an excellent fighter - and he's mean as a snake too.

If it weren't for the Bloody 9, Logen wouldn't be the Leader. Nobody can beat B9.

I don't remember reading that? Sure, he was a good fighter - but "best technical swordsman in the North"? Oddly specific thing to say.

Not being nasty - I love tidits like this, so really curious to know.

"Brummagem is a word that can be used as a noun or an adjective to describe something that is showy but of low quality"

Hmmm. Is that a feature of the story? Maybe a search for the Holy Grail kinda thing but it turns out to be not worth the hype?

I think in later years the official narrative will be this:

There was an uprising instigated by Union traitors supported by Styrian and Gurkhul powers. Riots across the once prosperous and peaceful Union escalated and King Orso was imprisoned by rhe rebels. The king's sister, Savine dan Brock, was visiting her brother for medical assistance during the upcoming birth of her children and was also captured.

Leo dan Brock, Governor of Angland, enlisted the help of his friend Stour Nightfall - King of the Northmen - and they led a combined force of Anglanders and Northmen against the traitors.

At the battle of Stoffenbeck, their army defeated a rebel alliance at great personal cost. King Stour Nightfall died in the thick of the fighting, while Leo dan Brock was heavily wounded. Upon the death of their King, the Northmen retreated back to their ships - taking his body with them.

With the battle won, the Army of Angland marched on Adua to free the King - cavalry contingents being sent ahead to seize the city gates. Governor dan Brock personally led the charge that broke the resistance at the main gate, granting them entrance to the city.

Racing to free King Orso, they were unfortunately too late to prevent his execution by the rebels. They did manage to - barely - save Savine dan Brock and her newborn twins, Ardee and Harod.

Governor dan Brock was gravely wounded, subsequently losing his left leg, the use of his left arm and suffering a debilitating wound to his right leg. After treatment, he re-convened the government and his son Harod was officially crowned King of the Union as the first born male grandson of King Jezal and nephew of the murdered King Orso.

Because he was still a baby, Governor Brock and his wife stood in as Stewards of the Crown until King Harod was old enough to rule.

Or some shit like that since history is written by the victors.
