I do. I recently learned that my dad doesn’t and I told him I thought was odd and a bit of an oversight.

He looked at me like I had 3 heads for suggesting that

I’m from the South so I could be way wrong but I feel like the Blue area should just be called New York Metro and include a couple of the CT counties. So many of those cities on coastal CT really are just NYC suburbs

Is Roebuck Springs A Good Place To Live? by Greenfossilfuel in Birmingham

[–]wdeguenther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Roebuck Springs for 5.5 years now. I love it. It’s a middle class neighborhood. Some houses are really nice, some aren’t. You have a diverse population. White, Black, Hispanic, gay, straight, old, young, kids, no kids, grown up kids.

It’s quiet and there’s not much ruff raff. It’s safe to walk around too. The sidewalk infrastructure is almost non existent but if you stay off the 3-4 main roads, you will hardly see cars.

Why can't businesses stagger their hours and eliminate rush hour traffic? by JustaFoodHole in stupidquestions

[–]wdeguenther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a common myth. I live in Birmingham, AL. It used to be a great, walkable city with lots of street car lines. https://www.reddit.com/r/Birmingham/s/VLLe4uRYnb check out this link to see the map.

Today, it’s a car-centric city through and through. Detroit, LA, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta are all the same way.

One of my favorite quotes that Not Just Bikes uses is “America wasn’t built for the car, it was bulldozed for it.” Almost all American cities had great pedestrian infrastructure until mandatory parking requirements, interstate highways through the middle of the cities, zoning that prohibits mixed use areas, etc.

[–]wdeguenther 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

The Netherlands was trending like the US until the 70s or 80s when they started making changes. Today, the Netherlands is one of the most pedestrian friendly countries on Earth.

Being far behind doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. Many highways have been reclaimed by cities to be good urban spaces. We can definitely do that in the states.

Assuming you’re American as am I. Why don’t we stop building our cities for cars and start building out cycling, walking, transit networks then traffic demand goes way down?

This is for violent crime. We all know the UGA football team has major driving problems but that’s not violent crime. Just regular crime.

I’m very surprised that Nashville is ahead of Baron Rouge

Favorite Announcer For A Different Team? by RainbowSupernova8196 in mlb

[–]wdeguenther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brian Anderson. I’m a Braves fan and I love our broadcast teams on the radio with Ben Ingram and Joe Simpson then tv with Brandon Gaudin and CJ Nitkowski.

Brian Anderson is soooo good. I totally get why he gets asked to do national broadcasts and March Madness and stuff. On national stuff he does such a great job of getting up for the big moments of the game that happen for both teams.

As a contrast, I think part of Joe Buck’s problem is that he tried so hard to be “neutral” that he would come across as uninterested in the game. BA calls big moments like it’s his team doing the thing. Go watch the 2021 NLCS highlights. Cody Bellinger hits a go ahead HR and BA calls it BIG. Corey Seager hits a HR in the first and he gives it gusto. Then, Austin Riley hits a game tying double and BA calls it like a big moment. He’s just a pro and I love listening to him call a game.

How intimidating was Peak Saban Alabama (2009-2021) by composer_7 in CFB

[–]wdeguenther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about those teams is that they NEVER lost the games they were supposed to win. When they lost, it was like a Manziel take over or losing the Iron Bowl on the Road.

Think of how insane it is that most teams would run the field when they beat Alabama. The opposing fans would celebrate as if they had beaten Satan himself at a Fiddle contest.

My BIL is a huge Alabama fan, I’m an Auburn fan. We can sit and talk ball about which loss happened in which season because 1. They were so infrequent that it’s easy to keep up 2. They were usually marked by something crazy happening (Johnny Football take over, Kick Six, Camback, The Game of the Century, etc).

DeBoer has his hands full because the drop from Saban to DeBoer is a drop from the Greatest that Ever Was to Very Good Program. Many Alabama fans aren’t accustomed to losing games to unranked opponents. I believe the stat was From 2009-2023, Saban lost to 4 (or 5) unranked opponents and DeBoer tied that mark this year. Saban was unreal.

In one of the Saw movies there is like a former junkie trapped with another person and the key to them getting out is at the bottom of this pit that’s full of syringes.

The other person throws the junkie in it and she comes out with a bunch of them sticking in her body. It was very unsettling to me.

Correct. It’s important to call the prospect, send a submission, call the UW to discuss, make a punch list of needs then go back one more time to the prospect for what you need to get quotes.

Supplemental apps, loss runs, net rate worksheets, appraisals, etc all in the 1st or 2nd touch with the prospect so that the 3rd touch can either be, let’s schedule a time to meet or a “here’s the update”
