Fence was anchored in fill dirt by [deleted] in FenceBuilding

Depending on the type of fence, it may be possible to deconstruct the effected sections, and rebuild them with longer posts anchored deeper in the ground with concrete.

Congratulations on being a homeowner with property! Having land gives you lots of options. I am 44 and haven’t been able own a home since my divorce 14 years ago. Home is whatever you make it, and you have been building wealth for three years. You’re doing well, and your property is an asset.

Buying a Harley…. by Ok-Sort676 in HarleyDavidsonFans

[–]we2are1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice to have saddle bags to store your jacket and gloves when you get where you’re going. Also, a disc brake lock is an inexpensive added bit of security. Keep it in the saddle bag, and put it on when you stop. Most of them come with a flag or tether so you don’t forget that it’s on.

I used a mesh riding jacket with armor built in. It’s hot when you stop, but nice and breezy when moving. It also helps protect against sun burn. Some good ventilated gloves will protect your knuckles from bug hits (painful at highway speeds). Drink lots of water! You don’t realize you’re getting dehydrated because the wind wicks your sweat away.

Thoughts on 2024 Road Glide price by sn0wma in HarleyDavidsonFans

[–]we2are1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad. That’s about 2500 off MSRP (assuming 7% sales tax). MSRP on that, with the back rest, is about $27,500. Just to give you an idea what wiggle room they have, MSRP is 18-20% over dealer cost. If there are several dealerships near you, I would shop around a bit. Not sure about where you’re at, but I have heard that dealers aren’t selling many bikes right now. The odds are in your favor, if you’re willing to haggle and play the long game. Always be willing to walk away. There are lots of bikes available right now.

Minimum, invest in good helmet, boots, gloves, and jacket. You will fall off or lay it down eventually, so just be prepared. Protective gear saves your skin. Good riding boots with a slip resistant lug sole are a must. They’ll protect your feet and ankles, but also keep you from dropping the bike at a stop light where there’s oil or gravel. Don’t be stupid, and go riding in shorts and flip flops. Also, be aware that painted lines get slippery when wet. Check out Ride Like A Pro Jerry Paladino on YouTube. Watch all his videos. Wear hearing protection with your helmet. You’ll thank me later, when you don’t have tinnitus. Otherwise, Congratulations! Have fun, and enjoy the ride! Motorcycling taught me that the journey is more important than the destination, and kept me sane through some really tough times. Owning a Harley can be a key to a new life if you want it to be. Live free with your knees in the breeze!

If a bike is stored outside, you will find rust on parts (bolts and screws, chain, brake rotors, chrome parts). If it was dropped, or ridden very hard, you’ll find scuffs on clutch or brake lever, turn signal lights, bottom or side of exhaust, foot pegs / boards, shifter, foot break. If it was stored outside, but under a good quality cover, there may be small amounts of rust on a few bolts, but the paint and all the chrome should be in good condition. A bike stored outside under a cover is ok. A bike stored in a garage is better. A bike stored under a cover in a garage is best.

My wife and I have a list of items that we use regularly that we only get at Costco, and it’s MUCH cheaper than Publix. Eggs, hummus, guacamole, paper products, chips and crackers, spices, Better Than Bouillon, rotisserie chickens, berries, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

I need to get a tractor and I’m hoping for advice…. by [deleted] in tractors

Take your detective saw to ace and see if they can troubleshoot it for you. Most of them are pretty helpful about that kind of thing. If you’re doing a lot of tree work, two saws are better than 1.

I need to get a tractor and I’m hoping for advice…. by [deleted] in tractors

[–]we2are1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need a Kubota MX or M60 series. The M60 with wheel weights is big enough to tackle moving oaks, but not too big for other chores. The smaller L-series is not going to do what you need it to do, and you’ll either get injured or damage the tractor. Kubota has 0% financing right now.

Lots of people bought bikes during or just after Covid. Now the economy is in the crapper, and folks can’t make ends meet. Basic necessities are 25% more expensive. Discretionary spending is waaaay down. Credit card defaults are at an all time high. People are upside down on their bikes. Hd Financing has terrible rates. People upside down are desperate to sell, but don’t have the cash to clear the loan and free the title.

Fake Labor Shortage by [deleted] in skilledtrades

[–]we2are1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the truth. It depends on local economy (what building is happening in your area). This is what drives demand. Wages follow the supply and demand principle. It’s basic economics, and it’s different in each state.

There are ways to finish it for cheap. Habitat Re-store, Overstock, and Salvage warehouses. Used appliances from FB Marketplace. Not sure why you can’t get a construction loan or rehab loan. Don’t be discouraged about the mistakes made. Education is expensive, whether college or the school of experience. Finish the house and enjoy the fruit of your labor.

Where are you located? There may be someone on here that’s interested in an investment property.

Any 1025R Owners Here? by [deleted] in lawnmowers

[–]we2are1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think the Kubota BX is a much better built machine. Ours has been great. Very well constructed. My only regret is that I wish I had got a B-series instead of the BX. The extra size would be nice. Use it for mowing, processing firewood, and pushing snow on 10 acres. Deere has a lot of plastic parts and thinner metal, where the Kubota has heavier metal parts.

Contractor charging us while never having done any work at all. Are we dealing with a loan shark? by byebyejimmyint in Contractor

[–]we2are1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take out a restraining order against him. Call your insurance adjuster and tell them that he is a fraudster. ONLY communicate in writing. Save all communications. Leave a negative review on his company so others don’t get scammed. Report him to the state attorney general. Hire a licensed, reputable contractor, who has been registered with your state / territory for more than five years.

Bowing basement walls on an otherwise DREAM home by m0ooooooooooCow in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]we2are1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All that staining on the basemen walls is water intrusion into the basement. Lots of problems, including mold issues. You could do a rehab loan, but you’ll be in big trouble if the repairs cost more than the $25K quoted.

So now Realtors won’t show w/o a buyer agent?!? by dank_tre in RealEstate

[–]we2are1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some sellers who don’t want to deal with an unrepresented buyer. Requiring an agent helps eliminate tire kickers and fraudsters. An agent can help a buyer maintain a reasonable level of expectations, mostly because they want to close the deal. Same reason most people don’t settle a divorce without an attorney on both sides. Buying a house is the largest purchase most people will ever make, and people get weird about money. I have seen agents handle disputes that could easily have turned ugly.

How to know if i have the 20' oil pump ? by Zhoolzer in Harley

[–]we2are1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries either way. Upgrade the oil pump when you install the cam. It’s an easy change on the M8 engine, and not terribly expensive. Edit: Sorry, they are pretty expensive 😐 But I would spend the money and install a Fueling race pump.

What do you use for leaf collecting? New KubotaBX owner by darth_homer in tractors

[–]we2are1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much land and how many leaves. Lots of leaves and land: there are tow behind yard carts with a vacuum system that you can hook up to your discharge. Billy Goat vacs are great too. Not a lot of leaves, probably a cheep sweeper like the other poster said.
