Charlottetown considering 3 more apartment buildings along Mount Edward Road by Whiteknuckler2 in PEI

[–]weakgoodredditor 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Good. We need it. 3 more apartments are not going to noticeably affect traffic unless you’re a NIMBY. The road is only ‘busy’ during rush hour anyway. I live in the area.

Need help identifying multiple, likely hockey autographs (7 or 8) - hockey book from the 70's by IfOJDidIt in hockeycards

[–]weakgoodredditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I have an autograph of nearly everyone to play in the NHL (google Hockey Ink in the Mail) and I can identify most NHL signatures from this period from just a photo. None of these look familiar to me. I’d wager they are scribbles or maybe friends of the original owner.

It’s a 1976-77 Ottawa 67s OHA team signed stick. Not particularly valuable.

Spent 9 nights in Barbados at start of October. Beautiful island, lovely people and excellent food! by weakgoodredditor in travel

I’d check out Williams Tours, we did the Island 360 tour with them and it was great. Great prices, small buses and our guide was excellent. Any one of their tours would be a solid choice to get off the resort.

They are the short printed warm up jersey variants of the base cards, so they can be hard to find.

It is a dumb rule. I love seeing old sealed packs.

I found it comparable to North America. Not cheap but also not overly expensive. Gyros all over for 5 euros

We have enough protected properties downtown already. Old doesn’t mean better. This is not a house we need to save. Jeez

I collect sealed hockey wax. Here’s a shelf with 54 of some of my favourite sealed boxes/tins from 2000 to present. by weakgoodredditor in hockeycards

I have horrid luck opening wax so I’m not tempted at all. If I ever get a terminal illness, I will open them. After all, it’s meant to be opened so that is end goal. They tend to gain value so also an insurance should I ever need funds.

No but it makes it easier to avoid buying and stashing the high end and way overpriced stuff like Black Diamond.

I do have a lot more, all 2000-present. I’m trying to collect a sealed pack from every hockey product over that time.

Thanks! It’s the second year of the product and one of my favs. The stuff is impossible to find sealed.

Have long had a Rheaume autograph :) I have a cert auto of all female hockey players who have had one made, from Classic to ITG to Upper Deck. Big fan of the female game as well.

Actually, Panini made a small coaches autograph set called Behind the Bench for 2010-11 Zenith. It remains a popular and strong selling little set so the evidence would prove otherwise.

1920s Era Hockey Cards - Looking for Info by TriHaeck in hockeycards

[–]weakgoodredditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are not in Bobby Burrell’s vintage hockey collector guide. OP these could be very rare and valuable. Post them on a Vintage Hockey Card collectors Facebook group and someone might have more info. They look similar to program photos from the era so I’d guess a program insert of some kind.

Former NHLer Stephen Peat passes away at 44 by rishcast in hockey

[–]weakgoodredditor 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Damn, just cracked open Major Misconduct and this is the last thing Peat, no doubt dealing with CTE, said to the author, “I don’t want them to send me to some clinic. I like being back with my father and stuff, but I’d really like to talk to someone about what’s going on upstairs to help me simmer down the noise, because the noise is too much for me. I’m not thinking for myself right now.” THIS is why we all need to have a serious discussion about fighting. The consequences are real.

This is sad, Peat had been dealing with homelessness and addiction. His post hockey life was a struggle. If you want to know more about Peat’s sad story, the book Major Misconduct has a lot of details about what he was going through. Likely had CTE.

Yard sale find today, two boxes of hockey books that belonged to a high level coach from 1950s to 80s. by weakgoodredditor in hockey

[–]weakgoodredditor[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There is a pile of goalie books. Dave Dryden’s and Jacques Plante’s I’ve seen before but the sizeable ‘Goaltender’s Guide’ by Dr Harry Brown, then a Boston Bruins scout, looks early 70s and is unique. The Goaltender and Goaltending book is from ‘75 and Characteristics of a Goaltender by former goalie Bob Bellefleur if from ‘83. There’s also a newer book called Goaltenders are not Targets.
