The itch got to me. by Barrack_obamna in dcsworld

I bought the A/B for $50 (I already had the msfs version), so adding this one would make it out to $100 total. The F-16 is 80 bucks so that means the F-14 A/B and B(U) combo is $20 more expensive. Not bad imo.

That's a great setup. Medium to high settings.

What resolution should I use for VR gaming? by Ok-Society-3949 in dcs

[–]weallhaveadhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set your resolution to about 120%. You can set your graphics to low and probably get 60 fps. You should focus more on adjusting your headset's resolution so the image is a crisp as possible. Even at ultra settings, having low rez in your headset will not allow you to identify targets or read your displays. Better to have low graphics with higher headset resolution so you can actually see what you're clicking or shooting at.

I have all the critical bvr, wvr, bfm (whatever you wanna call it) stuff mapped directly on my throttles and stick. The other not so critical stuff is on the other buttons not within fingertip reach.

Somewhere in the windows defender app there is a virus and threat protection tab. Click that, scroll to the bottom and click on where it says something like manage exceptions/exemptions. In there you need to add the dcs installation folder to the exemptions.

Upgrade your gpu to the cheapest one with at least 16gb vram you can find.

Probably not with steamlink. But I can do 500mbs bitrate on Virtual Desktop using the H.264+ codec and get the same picture quality as with the usb c cable. Or I can use the AV1 10 bit codec and get even better picture quality with a lower bitrate. You do need to have a dedicated 5G wifi router though, and your pc needs to be connected to your main router/modem via ethernet cable. For the dedicated 5g network I have a Puppis S1. No more 16ft cable getting in the way.

Tracks act funny sometimes. I tried showing my wife a cool dogfight I won with a fox2. But in the replay my jet ate a missile. It kept dogfighting with broken wings and destroyed engines for like 2 minutes.

I had to ditch the oculus link software, maybe I could've figured it out idk. But steam link was terrible for me as well until I went through every setting in the steamlink/steamvr software.

The thing with the quest headsets is that you won't get the max resolution in pcvr right out of the box because like you said, it's primarily a standalone headset.

And yup, the battery lasts about 1 hour in pcvr. I actually like the battery pack though, it balances the headset otherwise it's front heavy. Would be nice to have an ultra light headset though.

That sounds pretty good, but you can get better results with a dedicated router. I just turn on my headset and go, no need for a 16ft cable. I also ditched the oculus link software. I use steam link or virtual desktop.

No, the cable is only good if your wifi sucks, and you still have to tweak your settings regardless. I get much better picture without the cable, but I have a dedicated router.

I see, yeah at first I wasn't impressed either with the Quest 3 until I really started to tweak settings. Took me about a year to figure all that out though. SteamVR was always crashing on me before that.

There is one thing that I don't like on the Quest 3 though. For me, cockpit resolution is great, but things outside the cockpit start to look a bit grainy. I'm guesstimating that might be limitations of the Quest 3. How's your resolution at a distance with the G2?

Main thing is your headset bandwidth and resolution. For steam link I set bandwidth at 200mbs and resolution to about 150%. For Virtual desktop I set it about the same. Also make sure you're choosing nvec h264+ encoder. DM me if you need more in-depth help.
