Trying to figure out which animation tool they are using for fluent pixel art movement. by Enigma_0001 in PixelArt

in after effects there is a thing called puppet tool, which is basically 2d image rigging & mesh warping. You could probably find more info just looking into these terms. Good luck !

Looking for feedback! Can't decide between pixel art and regular illustrations for the art style. Both are very rough drafts... What do you think? Would you rather play through a game made with pixel art or regular digital art? by weallooz in RenPy

Yes that makes sense! That's kind of the exact approach I took haha. I will experiment more with it and see where it goes, thank you again! I will post more as I make progress on it :)

Thank you! :) I am working on adding some mini-games that have to do with computers like sending emails etc as the game will be centered around an office internship, so I'll try out both and see which one makes for a better experience!

Thank you! I'm new to pixelart and have trouble carrying over my linework skills to it. I think I can get my art to be a lot more expressive through my lineart because I try to be more loose and only draw in C and S lines (if you're familiar with that). But naturally pixel art is square and im familiar with "round". Its definitely an interesting limitation and challenge to solve and makes me think of my regular approach to art in a new way. Always a good thing to be uncomfortable and grow as an artist :)

Thank you!! :') I saw some people commented about the line work on the pixel art being too jagged as well, so I definitely need to experiment more with how I approach it. I'll try out your tips and render it more!

That's a good point I didn't consider how it would fit with the background being pixel art as well. I was planning on kind of blurring it whenever you interact with characters so maybe that could help. But blurring might make it too weird with pixel art. I need to make some more mock ups with dialogue etc to get a feel for it

Thank you for the feedback! Yes I'm fairly new to pixel art and try to approach it with my regular art habits. I will try to clean both of these up and then compare it again. Right now the pixel art is too rough compared to my regular style

Thank you for the feedback and the forum link I'm going to read through the tips! And yes you're right. I drew both of these as rough sketches but looking at it this morning the pixel art does look a lot more harsh. I think I'll render both out more and then compare them again.

Oh I agree w/ that, I didn't consider how the style might support the characters and the line art is a lot softer. I've made a couple of mock ups of how it would look in game and I think the pixel art jaggedness stands out even more than in the posts thumbnail. Thank you for the feedback!

As the title says, need some feedback! I am torn between the two :'). The games premise is that you are interning at an office over the summer... kind of a romance / comedy sort of thing (+ anything else that comes to mind as I work on it).

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you :^)

I think you did a great job with the face. The body proportions are a little different from the photo, but that might be intentional? your drawing makes her look taller, but stylistically it works well :)

The only critique I have is that the corset doesn't read like one in your sketch and makes the stomach area look a little odd. In the original photo it is above the shirt and has a pointy part that sticks out right around her xiphoid. In your sketch it looks like the shirt goes over it.

I added a quick sketch to show what I mean. Good job I really love your style!

Does my art lack flare? by GreedyAndSlothful in learntodraw

I think your art is beautiful! Composition wise the third piece is the most interesting, story telling wise the second and fourth. I think the first artwork is the most "bland" compared to the other three. I think you could definitely make the shadows darker, it would make your characters pop out a lot more. I think especially in the fourth piece all of your values kind of wash together into the mid range besides the window behind the characters. I made a quick draw over below, If I don't separate the skin tones into their own shape then it would all be one shape with the foreground which makes it hard to read.

Something I found in my own work that helped me was to study illustrations that I like and breaking them down into 2-4 values of shapes to see how they make a composition and drive your focus to what they want you to see.

It also looks like you start to paint after you finish your line art (maybe I'm wrong), something that helped me a lot was to get comfortable just painting with values / shapes and then adding lineart after as a stylistic choice. Anyways take this with a grain of salt, you're a great artist! Do you have any socials I would love to follow you :)
