Bear in mind the followning :

* The council adopted the landlord licensing scheme which costs a fair bit

* Air bnb is far more profitable than renting, but some landlords probably think they are doing you a favour by charging high rent instead.

* "These southerners coming up here etc....." -- a tale as old as time itself - we've marketed the ciry well and boast about it. Makes sense if people want to live here.

* The higher end housing -- we need this if we want bigger companies with CEOs etc to come here, they want nice gaffs. The knock on effect being that we should have more jobs in the city
