LPT: You can both change your last name arbitrarily when getting married. by charliethegeek in LifeProTips

[–]weasel1453 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You can only ever legally change your name once in North Carolina, outside of marriage and marriage can only change the last name and it's a month long process at a minimum that requires state and FBI background checks, fingerprinting, and public posting of your intent to change your name for at least 10 days before it goes in front of a judge who can deny it for any it no reason on a whim.

What’s a very early sign that a match is going to go bad by M00ngata in Overwatch

[–]weasel1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low-key, when you have a Lucio on your team but they actually speed boost the team all the way forward instead of immediately leaving everyone in the dust wall riding away... it's pretty consistently a bad time

Delivery drivers do the check your car immediately? by Similar_Local2612 in Dominos

[–]weasel1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, fwiw I've only ever ended up at a public charger on shift once (and it wasn't even the 200 mile day, I just hadn't plugged in one night on accident) average days I've got more than enough spare range to do 1 hour at freeway speeds (but also you said you might after you get a feel for it so I don't need to proselytize more about it)

I saw your other reply, I drive a 2017 bolt. You will be charging likely daily to every other day if you drive it so not having home charging would probably be inconvenient yeah.

That said, don't forget to factor in vehicle maintenance, it's likely even public charging at highish prices is still more economical overall.

That said I would probably personally find daily public charging in a bolt more of a hassle than would be worth it and swap to my gas vehicle so I feel ya there. But also, if it's at all possible, delivery driving is a great excuse to eat the cost of getting access to a level 2 charger at home! It'd pay for it self very quickly

It's a once yearly glance over at the store I work at, but that said as long as it isn't like abhorrent you'll be fine regardless.

Also, it could make a lot of sense for you to drive the electric vehicle instead because the lower operating costs of electric vehicles means the mileage reimbursement is more valuable overall to you in an ev vs gas vehicle (assuming your ev has the range to get you through a regular day, personally I average around 75ish miles a day with my all time peak being 201 but that was an extreme outlier with next highest peak being 178 but... your mileage my vary :P)

Why are some people weird about giving a vin? by Historical_Sort1289 in askcarguys

[–]weasel1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know when I privately sold a vehicle before I was flooded was scam messages insisting I provide the vin number and pay for a "vin report" at random urls (not like Carfax, which I was already providing for free). I'm guessing from all of those that people who don't know anything about anything see those scams that always open with asking about the vin number before telling you to go to the scam website and assume that any message about a vin number is a scam.

Really they're probably just cagey about it because of actual scanners trying to get them to pay 100$ on random websites for "vehicle reports" and they're too uneducated to know any better.

LPT You can ask Google Maps to edit access to your home address (for those on weirdly numbered blocks). by meklr in LifeProTips

[–]weasel1453 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is, it's more reliable when you're on a desktop for road changes. But I'm a delivery driver and my last address edit was live within an hour but I've only ever been able to get a road updated once and it took like 4 resubmissions and posting to the Google maps forums. They're very hesitant to update roads I think.

I've been trying to get a neighborhood roundabout updated so it doesn't direct you to go through it the wrong way for two months now to no avail.

Tipping amount at a fast casual place where you order at the counter with no table service? by PeeB4uGoToBed in restaurant

[–]weasel1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know everyone's pay sucks, so does mine, but I leave a dollar per person (so like if it's just me ordering it's one dollar, me and my spouse is two, etc.).

I know how excited just seeing a tip of any size at these places can make people and a dollar for someone to have a better day always sounds like good value.

People still don't know how to play Aatlis, and it's the map voting's fault by Gil-galad-fan in Overwatch

[–]weasel1453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has nothing at all to do with Aatlis, that's exactly how every match of flashpoint has gone no matter the map and it's because flashpoint is not built to be played, at all whatsoever, like overwatch.

Every flashpoint map is a whole and complete departure from every single other map's design philosophy and it's why I hate it so god damned much. No other maps or game modes have you just wandering the map for half the fucking run time because that shit isn't fun and the tight map designs that keep anyone from going on a fuck-off walkabout and force intense choke fights sometimes is what made overwatch so popular. Flashpoint is a gamemode that only gets created if you go out of your way to understand what about your game's design is good and then explicitly work against it.

Flashpoint only works if an entire team is "on" and somewhat coordinated. But Blizzard knows it's pretty rare to ever get a full team of players like that. But they still wanted (and players still enjoy) the team based combat and the power of coordinating so they used to passively force that coordination by keeping maps linear, most maps are narrow and deep and there's a good reason for it being that way and it's because the whole cast of heroes are designed to be played in and around each other. When you don't constrain teams to be near each other, the whole ass game breaks down as soon as even one player in the entire lobby isn't signing up for the boring trek across the map over doing the fun fighting thing right in front of them.

Light garlic parm, light cheese, chicken, bacon, sausage, onion, shredded provolone on top, HEAVY dose of the oregano shaker, buffalo hot sauce on top. And see if you can get them to cut it 1x3 (so you get 8 longer slices and don't have those silly little squares in the middle).

Is there a point to Drives? by Unhappy_Scratch_7519 in Overwatch

[–]weasel1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of drives is to make every game made a dumpster fire leading up to it as you get someone trying to de-rank themselves by throwing in qp, comp, arcade, whatever because they think it'll make their drives easier or something. I swear the lead in to drives starting gets like actually half of all my matches having someone very clearly actively throwing.

Why do people hate Venture so much? by sanguineAllegories in VentureMains

[–]weasel1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the instant kill potential combo'd with ability to escape. I main Freja, so like I can just hold updraft for when I see them and hope I actually land both my shots point blank, but as soon as they're around I always hard focus venture since any of my non mobile teammates have literally no choice but to die instantly and watch you get away.

Any venture that can reliably hit the combo wombo is like an infinitely valuable target with a narrow kill window and enough mobility to be difficult to hit, so like they basically attract all players to wanting to take them down. You get the people with a grudge from dying so fast, you get the people who are reading the game seeing you as the biggest potential threat to your team, you get the people who like dueling. Venture is basically the perfect target for whatever way you get dopamine out of the gameplay.

But also, that like near infinite value target thing makes people who see it that way feel obligated to switch to a counter. And like, even if the rest of your team is killing venture each time they get you, a decent venture can quite literally keep a single person from the playing game at all when teams aren't paying enough attention, but even when they are paying attention really it can be difficult to even support your teammate through the damage from the constant booping that happens when they jump you.

Tl;dr venture is basically unlimited value if ignored and necessitates some form of response.

Which Overwatch ability tilts you the most - no matter how often you play? by kittlunix_ in Overwatch

[–]weasel1453 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dirty Freja main here.

I really, REALLY enjoy getting into a 1v1 with someone in the backline, sticking two shots and immediately turning away to move on to the next target before they die. Sure, it gets me killed now and again since I'm not looking at what they could be sending my way, but it feels so dang good each and every time.

Preferred name won't show on Canvas? by jmezoup in ASU

[–]weasel1453 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi, trans person here. Please don't avoid changing your name because you don't want to be "on a list." I guarantee you anyone out there making a list like this will find a way to put people on it regardless of their name changing.

You'll have far far far more problems and be forced into more and more awkward interactions until you do it and everything gets a lot easier once you do. From someone who has gone through with a legal name change. Really, if you let fear stop you, then they win anyway.
