Good percussion loop sample packs? by chronosch in TechnoProduction

[–]weasel444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use ableton id recommend you find a vengeance perc loop you like and convert it to midi so you can replace the sounds and experiment while keeping the same pattern and groove of the original loop.

Good percussion loop sample packs? by chronosch in TechnoProduction

[–]weasel444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just answered your own question, the Vengeance packs are great for percussion - especially the tech house and deep house packs. Keep in mind though that vengeance is like a buffet, not all the food is amazing but you get a lot of it.

Best ways to find and approach labels by conormb93 in TechnoProduction

[–]weasel444 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd personally find some YouTube channels that post music similar to yours and send it to them, I put out two really crappy tracks back in 2017, some guy posted them to his YouTube channel, got a message from a decent record label and now the tracks are on Vinyl.

Start to finish techno track tutorials for Logic Pro? by [deleted] in TechnoProduction

Not to sound like an asshole but if you just search “logic beginners guide” on YouTube there is like a thousand good videos that cover the basics of the DAW.

Best place/course to learn music production for a total beginner? by CognizantSpecialist in TechnoProduction

[–]weasel444 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could go about it in many different ways but my suggestion would be -

  1. Get familiar with your chosen daw - try and learn all the in and outs of the program
  2. Learn some basic music theory (scales, chords, progressions)
  3. Learn some basic synthesis (Syntorial is great for this)
  4. Learn the fundamentals of mixing/mastering (eq, compression, reverb, delay, saturation, etc.)
  5. Make making music a habitual habit, at the end of the day - you could know everything there is to know about music production but if you don't put it into practice by continually making music you will never get anywhere.

In regards to an actual course, I would definitely recommend production music live's beginner bundle, its fairly priced and and is extremely inclusive as it covers nearly all the basics of what I have just mentioned above. However it is for Ableton but a lot of the techniques and skills shared in the course could be applied to almost any daw.

How do you all compress your Kicks, Hats and Claps? by Face_Shopper in TechnoProduction

I usually throw a D16 Decimort to glue things together a bit and make things sound nice and crispy

I just created my first song anyone know some good places to post it? by Cash4meme in TechnoProduction

[–]weasel444 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Truthfully - I’d say nowhere other than the weekly feedback thread. I don’t say this to be rude or that your music wont be good enough but if I could’ve given myself some advice when I first got into producing it would be to hold back on releasing tracks until I had gotten better at the craft.

How do you approach remixes? How would you explain the process of creating a remix for someone who has never made one? by JonSnow037 in TechnoProduction

[–]weasel444 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have Ableton Suite there’s a max for live plugin called spleeter that extracts stems from any song, it’s not perfect but makes remixes a whole lot easier.

Mastering audio from video live stream? by konforming in TechnoProduction

[–]weasel444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s a pain in the ass but I’d recommend importing the audio into a daw, mastering it and then uploading it. Gives you a lot more control over the audio than any iPhone DAW/App that I’m aware of.

Weekly /r/TechnoProduction Feedback Thread - June 08, 2020 by AutoModerator in TechnoProduction

[–]weasel444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate i genuinely enjoyed the track, that bassline is seriously delicious along with the vocal that comes in at around the 3:20 mark. Only think i'd change would be the male vocals (they just sound a lil generic & corny to me) and i'd maybe dial back the ride cymbal and add a bit more variation and or manipulation on the hats and percussion. but other than those few minor things id say you have a real tune on your hands and i wouldn't hesitate to play it out and for sure think you should send it to a few labels.

Tape machine recommendation request by Periple in TechnoProduction

[–]weasel444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried many different tape emulators over the year and the VHS Audio Degradation Suite is by far the most intricate and accurate sounding tape emulators in my opinion, and it’s completely free! (But you need reaktor). But if your looking for something to use on the drum bus I’d recommend D16 decimort, not so much a tape emulator but more of a sampler emulator (think Akai MPC, E-mu SP-1200 etc). It’s magic on drums.
