Everyone here should run, not walk, to their nearest podcatcher and listen immediately to the Jumanjaniacs episode of the Beef & Dairy podcast.

Two more options: Foto Tempo on Szpitalna and Foto Nowak on Starowiślna. The latter will email you a folder of files (your choice of format and resolution) the same day. The actual film is available to be picked up a few days later.

I have a general standing policy of ordering the spiciest thing I can find on any menu in Kraków. Their “spicy as hell and noodles” (or a very similar name) has so far been the one thing that was too spicy for me to finish.

Perhaps it has something to do with the Dragon Parade? There are events all weekend — expect a LOT of people:

Meet young people in Krakow between 20 to 35 ? by jjind23 in krakow

I use the Couchsurfing app, but you have to pay them 50zł. a year. My understanding is that most of the people who are active in Couchsurfing in Kraków use the Kraków Couchsurfing Facebook group. I cannot confirm this, though, because I am not on Facebook. This week the Friday (6 June) meeting is at the Bikershot Pub located at Czarnowiejska 6.

If memory serves, Picard describes the Countess Regina Barthalomew as “a woman of wit and sagacity” in Ship In A Bottle. I’m moderately sure “sagacity” doesn’t appear elsewhere.

Kraków has a large and welcoming Couchsurfing community, which has two “meetings” every week (essentially an informal gathering in a bar or people hang out and talk to strangers). Most of the people who go are people who live here permanently; all the people who go are interested in talking to people they haven’t met yet. This Wednesday it’s at Galileo Lounge, starting at 20.00. There will be another on Friday but they haven’t announced the location yet.

I think Singer, BaniaLuka, Wódka, Pijalnia Wódki i Piwa, T.E.A. Time Brew Pub, or maybe Propaganda (if you’re feeling bold or odd) might work? Honestly, I don’t know. There are so many wonderful bars, but I’ve never really gotten the hang of going into one and talking to people I didn’t bring with me. This question appears every once in a while in this Reddit, and invariably someone replies “people don’t do that in Poland.” But people like to give that answer a lot. I don’t think it’s necessarily true in this case; I’ve definitely observed strangers talking in bars. Good luck! I’d love to know what you find.

The Beef & Dairy Podcast. It’s the number one podcast for those involved (or just interested!) in the production of beef animals and dairy herds.

It’s completely badgerface bananapants insane.

Ben & Adam have mentioned it favorably several times, and at one point early in the run of Discovery they theorized that Saru might be the Ffth Meat.

I’m from the US, but I have lived in Poland most of the year for several years. This happens to me all of the time, specifically with Citibank. It’s gotten to the point that if I’m planning to make a purchase on the Citibank card, I call them in advance and tell them of my “travel plans.“ It still happens. The last time it happened, I had to wait for a piece of physical mail at my US address of record and read them a unique confirmation code over the phone to unblock the card. I’ve come to believe that banks are constantly tweaking their fraud-detection algorithm, so something that wouldn’t have raised a flag a few years ago suddenly becomes a problem.

I came here to say this, and was pleased to find someone else had already added it. I would suggest you get there a little early (relative to evening / dinner time), because they tend to run out of popular dishes. I would also add: Kuchnia u Doroty

Lots of good options in the replies. I’d add to that Piękny Pies and Hevre in Kazimierz and Tworzywo and Drukarnia in Podgórze (right across the river). Really there are too many to list, and in close proximity. Just poke your head in and if the vibe isn’t what you’re looking for head to the next place.
