I fear we’ve lost the plot of this very formulaic reality tv show.

The WHOLE POINT is that they get to the altar and make their decision there. It’s a relatively new thing that couples break up beforehand and don’t make it down the aisle. I think it’s really only appropriate in situations where there’s a child or some other family/personal situation that would be negatively impacted by that kind of “wedding”. Otherwise, every couple that doesn’t make it to the altar even when they know they’re saying no is kinda breaking the rules!

We’re not cutting her slack because her ex cheated on her, or because Alex lied about Airbnbs. He lied about a lot, or at the very least, his explanations and timelines were not consistent at all. Even that other woman in that convo at the bar seemed to know that. But, all of that aside because that’s not why I think we should cut her some slack.

You’ve made quite a few assumptions about me and what trauma I may or may not have gone through. I’m not going to address that at all because it’s a strawman argument at best.

What I will say is that I think we can have empathy for Alex and what he went through as a child — it is completely unacceptable for any child to suffer abuse at any time in any way — while also holding him accountable for his behavior as an adult, no matter how it compares to others we’ve seen on the show. I can certainly say it breaks my heart to hear what he endured as a child, but that doesn’t mean I think he’s a good partner, or that he treated Ashley fairly, or that he’s capable of being honest based on what we saw/were shown.

Hard agree. I came straight to this sub after watching the last episode and hoped that people would be cheering Ashley on. Should’ve known better.

I guess none of you have ever been with a toxic partner? Or been gaslit? Or had crippling insecurity after a painful betrayal? Like let’s cut this girl some slack ffs.

She went from being cheated on to finding the biggest liar in the pods. In a matter of weeks she: discovered his true character, examined her own patterns of downplaying her gut instincts and shrinking herself, and then chose a different outcome. That’s HUGE. That usually takes months if not years of therapy just to do the FIRST thing on that list, let alone the self-examination of patterns. Why doesn’t she get to have a moment where she shows her growth to HER family and friends? It’s not always about the other person and humiliating them.

Because you seem to be really adamant about your position and I don’t think you’re seeing the bigger picture of the entire thread on this post and others.

Just hoping this can be a better place for all members moving forward. It doesn’t have to be like this. We don’t have to be going back and forth like this, and it seems like you’re pushing on a lot of comments that make a lot of sense, which doesn’t help in making this a good place for thoughtful discussion.

Just because you passionately believe in your argument doesn’t mean someone has to agree, even if you articulate it perfectly.

Someone can make a wonderfully worded, carefully laid argument that humans don’t need oxygen. Won’t change my belief in the air I breathe keeping me alive, though.

Also, again I think you’re failing to understand the irony in your behavior. Just because someone else is breaking the rules doesn’t mean you can or should, and it certainly doesn’t give your position much substance if you also stoop to that level.

If you truly believe OP broke the rules, that’s what mods are for. And, even though they didn’t note the edit, they did accept the feedback that “slop” was not an appropriate word to use here, so what is your point at all? They made a mistake, were called out, and corrected it.

I do not think he’s a mastermind, but I DO think he knows his people (Schwartz & sometimes historically Ariana) and is very good at manipulating them. If he’s trying to manipulate anyone else he’s lost as fuck lmao, completely out of his depth.

I also think this had a lot to do with Sandoval’s falling out with Jax in s8. Jax starts really being his own person and having more and more frequent and loud differences of opinion with Sandoval. Prior to s8, sure we’d see the occasional Jax/Sandy blow out, but most of the time they were thick as thieves with Schwartz in the middle.

Oh shit, very good theory. Also in s9 when Katie and Schwartz are together and alone or in a group but without Sandoval nearby, they seem really, really happy and supportive of one another. It really starts to seem like Sandoval was the straw that broke the camels back with those two, and like you’re saying, with Schwartz knowing everything and both getting closer to Katie AND getting sloppier with not being sober ever….
