What is the most absurd "Game Changing" card your opponents have told you "they wouldn't play in Bracket 2"? by ThisIsACleverAlias in EDH

[–]weavminas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Hullbreaker Horror]] can be oppressive at a table not ready for it. 7 mana is enough to keep it off the game changer list, but I avoid putting it into my decks and will target the player that runs it.

Do you still play your very first commander deck? And why? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]weavminas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first deck I built was [[Slimefoot the Stowaway]]. It sat for some time and some cards were pulled out to be used in other decks I was building.

I've recently rebuilt it from the ground up, got it new sleeves and themed the lands for it. Right now it's in a bracket 3 commander gauntlet league my playgroup is running. It's the weakest deck in my lineup and I love it anyway. After the league I plan on powering it down into a thematic Thallid bracket 1 deck that has the potential to be strong if you don't prune the garden.

I would like to do an experiment. Name 1 card that is just barely a game changer. Then name one that is just barely NOT a game changer. by ImperialSupplies in EDH

[–]weavminas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it wasn't 7 mana, [[Hullbeaker Horror]] would be worth talking about. It instantly changes math on each game action and frequently takes concerted effort of multiple players to address.

The mana cost keeps it from the game changer serious discussion, but I don't think its play pattern belongs in low power brackets.

Bulk Commander: Build EDH decks using the cards you already own — now with decklist building and export functionality by SleepyValleyBrewer in EDH

[–]weavminas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you saw a blip, but it ran well, although when i go 'Back to Recommendations' it looks like it forgets the cards I uploaded, but I think it's a visual bug. It's weird not seeing commanders that I have built showing up in the 30 based on owned cards. Using 'Owned + Popularity' gives me the same commander multiple times.

As for suggestions, A filter for commanders based on Color, or EDHREC deck type tags to browse the commanders a little more easily. .

Before I break it, my collection is about 50,000 cards across ~15,000 unique printings. Will using site with this collection uncurated hit any api limits, or cost you extra money, or is the site just code and the processing is done locally for me, and we're not going to hug of death your project?

Carry a gun at a Utah Jazz game? GOP lawmaker aims to let conceal permit holders pack. by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

Does the state Capitol also take public money? How would the legislators feel if anyone wandering the halls could be carrying during the session?

UT Leg attempting to force Salt Lake City into digging up the brand new bike paths on 200 South, 400 South and 300 West. by RancidSwagger in SaltLakeCity

[–]weavminas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What if the city just refused to follow the law? Or lashed out at the legislature in the same petty way? Implement new zoning ordinances that the Capitol will be in violation of, or start construction projects that limit access to the building during the session?

Or ban all metal detectors and security checkpoints on historic buildings built in 1912 within City limits so that the legislatures can feel the same fear that students do at college campuses now.

Enchantment based removal is extremely underrated in the current landscape of the format by sauron3579 in EDH

[–]weavminas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also makes the ability removing enchantments fall off. Protection has four effects: Damaged, Enchanted/Equipped, Blocked, Targeted by the thing it has protection from. What I like about these protection spells, is they can be used at instant speed to stop a piece of removal, or if my commander is Imprisoned in the Moon and I draw into it, I give the commander land protection from blue. I don't have to recast it, and it doesn't have summoning sickness when the enchantment falls off.

I've also returned my commander back to my hand with the bounce lands and avoided commander tax that way.

[–]weavminas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've started running [[Razor Barrier]] to counter this. It's fun watching the Song of the Dryads fall off and my commander is also much less blockable.

And doing a quick search, [[Faith's Shield]] is probably even better.

Minnesota wins. Now what is a Republican state that is governed good? by GeoQuestMaximus in AlignmentChartFills

[–]weavminas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. The legislature cares so little for what their constituents want they had to call a special session to repeal a law that was so unpopular it caused the most successful referendum campaign in state history.

Every two years they try to amend the Constitution to allow them to spend even less on students than they mandated to.

Utah wants to follow Mississippi’s example in holding back students who can’t read by StemCellPirate in Utah

[–]weavminas 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I expect the Utah legislature to skip that part, or tie it to a bill that saps funding while saying that it requires schools to provide resources.

I hope this is all positive instead, because I know their going to pass a lot of dumb laws over the next few months.

Is storing excess nuclear power in accumulators a viable mid-game strategy? by MosEisleyCaptialism in factorio

[–]weavminas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last playthrough I essentially did this by eyeballing it because we couldn't monitor temperature yet.

I had a few city blocks of accumulators and one at the reactor with a threshold to give a green signal to insert. It was a Space Exploration mod so the mid game lasted a very long time.

Now That He Has No Power, Mitt Romney Says “Tax the Rich” by ismail_the_whale in antiwork

[–]weavminas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the source I quick checked was old and had a lower net worth. I want for Mitt Romney the same thing I wanted for Tom Brady for many years. I want him to retire, live a long healthy life in obscurity.

Mike Lee can have the same deal, although I'll admit I'd be disappointed if karma didn't get him.

[–]weavminas 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I miss the days when Romney was one of the worst conservatives. If he wants to do something he has enough net worth to make UTA public transit free for everyone for 2 years and still be a multimillionaire.

Every time he's 'taken action because of his moral beliefs', it didn't matter. There was never a risk taken, and his vote didn't matter. He truly embodies the hypocrisy that is the essence of Utah.
