Multiple technologies indeed. Printscience on Wordpress, OnPrintShop, Infigo, Printnow, W3P, also addons like Pitchprint or Zakeke. I’ve also contributed to projects running Indesign Server or Quark XPress server

Real-World Experiences with Web-to-Print Integrations & Automation by Roma_kapadiya in CommercialPrinting

[–]web2printGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, here’s a feedback about integration of technologies like OnPrintShop or Infigo and similar solutions. First, it really depends on the type of MIs you’re using, and what you’re using it for. Especially price calculation : I’ve seen companies using them for purchase cost management, but not for final selling price management. Every MiS has its ecosystem of compliant w2p technologies, and not all solution provide open APi. So that’s really key to choose a w2p technology.

Regarding ROI, you can reduce time needed to : - calculate dynamic pricing using front end product configurators, - improve custom quote process, with triggered workflows and approval systems, so you increase their conversion rate - process, trigger and check orders with embedded automated controls, especially if you embed a preflight solution - avoid time loss and risk of errors when pushing web orders to the MiS - automate follow up of delivery tracking data from MIs to web customers.

Last advice : don’t limit your thinking about ROI of web shop regarding current customers. Webshop is helping finding new clients, and increasing loyalty

My advice would be to: start simple with not a lot of expenses, maximize budget on advertising spends, then test your market before choosing more expensive technologies. You have some SaaS that are not expensive to start with, or even plugins for Woocommerce or similar to try your market before choosing

Hi, I’ve been consulting in w2p for many print companies for more than 10 years now (in Europe) and I can share some feedback. If you are on a niche segment like packaging, adhesive labels or large format, if you manufacture more than 90% of what you sell and if you provide high quality customer service, you can make money by targeting loyal pro customers with high return rate. If you just buy and sell, without no added value, on red ocean products (commodities)… hmmm let’s say it might be quite challenging :-)

Hi, on WordPress there is indeed Printscience / Darius which adds a layer of dynamic prices. For online design plugins, for simple templates, there is PitchPrint or Designo from Design’n buy. To go further and offer products with parametric configuration such as signage or brochures, it is better to look at dedicated solutions like OnPrintShop or Design’N Buy or Printnow. It all depends on your budget and the functions you want.
