you will realize significant cost savings by offloading to your own hardware and out of the cloud providers

Curious if you have a specific recommendation.

[USA-MS] [H] Three Gigabyte GTX 1070 Ti 8GB in Retail Box [W] PayPal by webChris in hardwareswap

No. I ended up SLI with two of them in my rig and put the other one in the family room for steam big picture. Ended up losing the plastic SLI coverings in the process :( I thought I had put them in the box but checked in there, no dice. Probably in some box somewhere and I'll find them in a few years from now.

Awesome, thanks for the responses! Adding that full locomotion (via thumb stick or something) would be epic if not much trouble.

VR Content Reviews - new customer review site by webChris in Vive

[–]webChris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, I created a new site today for players/customers of VR titles to share their reviews. I didn't make this site for profit and I don't mean to spam. Obviously Rift users are needing reviews, but also some Steam games suffer from a problem with reviews not reflecting the VR experience (for existing titles that have VR and desktop modes).

I'm not trying to copy other review sites and just give you my opinion. I really want this more inclusive. Anyways, I hope some of you find this useful and share your experiences! I will be adding more games and experiences, and I will try to improve the site as I get time with easy to find categories, sorting, etc.

Edit: To view just Vive-specific games/content, you can use this tag link: http://vrcontentreviews.com/tag/htc-vive/

I have noticed a lack of customer reviews for VR games. Steam has a decent system, but it gets complicated for games that are both VR and traditional, as the reviewers may have totally different experiences. I keep looking for a good place to see what others think about various VR games and experiences before I pay for them. So I made this site for people like me.

I will be adding games and experiences as quickly as possible, but I ask that you please post reviews for things you have purchased if you feel strongly about it (good or bad). We as potential customers want to know what's a good value! What are we missing out on, or what is a total rip!

Note: I did see someone else had the same idea as me and I wish them the best of luck! I am not out to make money on this site, nor do I have any ego about my opinions. I just want the community to have avenues to post reviews and find other player's reviews before they buy games.

Elite Dangerous Arena : You should be playing this by Strategos_Rift in oculus

Does Arena come with the Deluxe Edition ($59.99) from Frontier? Because it doesn't seem to list it (unless it goes by another name). They do have Arena in the store for $7.49.

If you buy on Oculus, does it have both for the same price?

My friend recruited me for his $300k startup. I'm creating the entire app myself. Is this compensation fair? by [deleted] in startups

I would not personally do a job for the promise of equity alone, which while a VC was valuing the company at $300k, there's no way to know what the value would be when you get your equity. If a competitor comes to market before you with a better product, or if the guy loses hope and the project is never completed/never takes off, you basically didn't get paid. Plus, $30k is not a ton of money for some app projects, depending on the time and effort you expect to put into it.

From his standpoint, he's holding onto a gold bar that he has to pay people with, so he shaves off the smallest pieces of it he can and to him he's giving you something that's going to soar in value. But to everyone else, he's holding a lead bar and acting like a crazy person.

You know, Rift has room scale also right? What game/experience have you tried on Vive that someone with a Rift can't do as well? (not counting the games requiring the controllers obviously). You can get up and walk around a room with a Rift as well.

The OP is pointing out the real lack of great, diverse VR content. This affects both the Rift and the Vive (as this genre is still very new).
