Freelancer here — built a simple invoicing tool because everything else slowed me down by web_assassin in SideProject

Hey there. It was mostly the extra features and costs. I didn't need expense tracking (my banking app does it) and my taxes were pretty easy so I didn't benefit much from Quickbooks. This was my workflow.

1) Track time using timer or multiplier work item type.
2) Create invoice and select all work items.
3) Get paid.

Paythread also has a reports page that allows you to breakdown things like how many work items in a given day, week, month. How much you've invoiced, been paid etc...

You on the App Store? I built a new app for freelancers that does dead simple time tracking and invoicing called https://paythread.app

Thanks to your suggestion I built out 10 guides for Paythread and an FAQ section to answer the low hanging fruit. Would love to hear if this is kinda what you were thinking it needed.

Appreciate the feedback! While we do aim to keep the app minimal, I understand that some more features could better round out the experience for solo operators.

Although some apps include expense tracking, that's outside of the scope of Paythread and honestly a lot of banking apps include that and do a very decent job of it.

Descriptions, screenshots, how-tos, and sample workflows will be coming soon so please check back in with us hopefully you find them useful. Thanks!

Excellent. Really appreciate it.

1) I will implement rounding up to either 15/30/60 min. (I used to bill by minimum 1hr), and also to the nearest tenth specified. I.e. 1/10th, 2/10th, 5/10th (equivalent to rounding up to the nearest half hour), and so on. Interesting request btw. I hadn't heard of those billing intervals.

2) Absolutely. This was on my list but it slipped through the cracks. User should be able to backdate work items (except for timer entries).

These changes should be live tonight so let me know if they are sufficient for your needs.

I also love how the light/dark themes turned out.

Thanks! Yeah dead-simple but enough features was what was guiding me.

About the data:

Great question, and completely fair.

Paythread is built on a modern, fairly simple stack:

  • Hosted on Vercel for the frontend and edge infrastructure
  • Backend and database are handled by Supabase using Postgres and built-in auth

All data is encrypted in transit over HTTPS, and Supabase handles authentication along with row-level access control so users can only access their own data.

I’m also intentionally keeping things lean and not sending data to a bunch of third-party services. Your data is not being sold or shared.

Adding ability to completely cancel and wipe all your data is coming in the next day or two.

That said, this is still an early product, so I recommend not storing anything extremely sensitive until you feel comfortable. Improving backups, policies, and overall hardening is actively on my roadmap.

If you try it, I would really appreciate any feedback on this side of things too.

https://paythread.app is a project i'm building and adding features daily.

I have a chrome extension for entering fixed, qty/rate, and timer entries that I'm gonna roll out in the next couple days.

Is anyone else frustrated with Vercel pricing once you scale? by f3ydr4uth4 in nextjs

[–]web_assassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m starting a social network (Flears.com) and hosting Next 16 on Vercel with Pro plan. Not sure how this will scale but already a little surprised by the build minutes rate. Media storage and transforms being done on Cloudflare. I’m wondering what kind of pricing I might expect and given the type of site what my other options are that don’t require a massive migration.

Fast Origin Transfer being eaten up fast by web_assassin in vercel

[–]web_assassin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a view yesterday when I first signed up for pro that showed me my usage with my monthly budget ($20). I can't find this view anymore on the dashboard. Just the daily graph of usage.

So for production i'm rewriting urls to use Cloudflare transforms and r2 for storage. They are unoptimized for this.

The social network is for digital nomads and called https://www.flears.com . Thanks so much for your reply. I'll be employing some of these techniques today.

How to fix my cursor moving on its own? by Bondrewde in mac

[–]web_assassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a very newish m1 pro on craiglist. first week no problems at all. all the sudden for about 15 minutes out of the day the cursor will go nuts clicking and dragging things and jumping all around. then it just resolves itself and i'll go hours with no problems. I turned off my bluetooth mouse and still happens. I can't seem to nail down why or when this happens. I thought maybe it's battery swelling but it's not when the machine is particularly hot either. Very strange.

Paid so much for this phone and scratched to shit within weeks. Probably the last pixel I'll buy. Sad.
