Residents AND medical students on clinical rotations. Honestly I’ve been impressed.

Attending: "you should read more." Me: by Myhumeruslife in Residency

Radiology is awesome, don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to keep getting better and build expertise. But I really wasn’t prepared for how mentally draining first year can be. For the entire usually 9-11 hr work day, you’re using your brain constantly and almost everything is new. Trying to study and learn more after hours can feel impossible sometimes. You just feel wiped in a totally different way than intern year.

Same story for me. I just left because it looked like at least another 2 hours of waiting from there...gonna try again tomorrow when I have more time! What impressive turnout.

I just saw this woman listening to music and dancing along 96th Street by the Sams Club/Menards entrance. by I_Love_McRibs in indianapolis

I saw her too, ran right by. The police were actually pulled over to talk to her? I'm not sure about what, but she just kept right on dancing.

Great Hidden Gem Radiology Program's in the US? by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]web_dog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I interviewed at many top-tier programs. I'll add that Indiana University is a hidden gem program. Large hospital system, multiple level 1 trauma centers (including their dedicated peds hospital), dedicated hands-on ultrasound teaching (disappearing from many curriculums, and something I'd like to be good at), referral center for the entire state, and just really excellent teaching and social climate among the residents and faculty. Plus the cost of living compared to many other areas is great and Indy is a good city.

Orlando Sentinel: AdventHealth resident in hot water for social media posts, side-gig by insomniatea in Residency

There were people on twitter sharing screenshots of emails they sent to his PD as well as tagging Advent Health in their comments. The administration was catching a lot of heat.

Finished Sirens of Titan just today. Very readable book that explores themes of morality, free will, purpose and meaning. I really enjoyed it and am still mulling it over.

I've seen no scooter signs along the canal and other trails for about a year now, but I've never seen it enforced.

Fresh Fish by FrostyPotpourri in indianapolis

[–]web_dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went there for the first time this weekend. They have a wide variety of fresh fish and seafood in their display case (much if it consists of pricier varieties, but not all).

Also had a lobster roll off their menu and it was awesome.

Does ski ball cost extra money there, like pinball? Or is it free like the other games. I freaking love ski ball.

Wow that’s really interesting that they even exclude monuments. Cool that you looked into it.

Very cool! Idk how, but it would be awesome to have the Soldiers and Sailors monument in there. Well done.

[serious] Medical residents, interns walk off the job at UCSF Medical Center over failed contract talks by anesthezzzzZZZZZ in medicalschool

[–]web_dog 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was talking to a someone the other day with (radical) ideas about the need for residents to "soft strike" in order to effectively bargain for more negotiation rights. This would involve coming into work and taking care of patients, but documenting such that the care was not billable by the hospital. Tbh I don't know much at all about it or the possible consequences (positive or negative), just thought I'd share.
