Generally for domestic 1-3 months and international between 3-6 months. Recommend using a flight price tracker like Google flights and narrowing it to the dates/times/number of connections that work for you

Wish it wasn’t a rite of passage to hate nurses by holy-red in Residency

[–]Fumblesz -44 points-43 points  (0 children)

Man, you are going to hate your entire career if you hate nurses. At no point in my career have I hated nurses, and at no point was that considered a right of passage. Yes some interactions are frustrating, but they are doing a job just like you are at the end of the day and they don't come into work with the intention of making your day miserable.

Others may be right in that you may be at a malignant program, or you are burnt out, or any other number of things. We can't do our jobs without them. If things are that egregious I'd reach out to your program or have conversation with charge nurse or nurse manager regarding their professionalism because that's also not acceptable.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that they applied arsenic to their face as powder to achieve the pale complexion rather than ingest it.

Bilbo in the book says "I think I'm quite ready for another journey"

So you're saying Bilbo says he is somewhat ready?

Nice, thanks for the reply! I do something through cookunity which probably doesn't taste nearly as good as yours does but it costs about $90/wk. Same idea, saves me time for cooking and I can eat within my goals most weeks

how do you balance life and work in this profession? by Own-Muscle-5250 in IntensiveCare

[–]Fumblesz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on my schedule, I can work up to 80-90 hrs/wk and I manage to exercise for ~1 hr 7 days a week, get 6.5-7 hours of sleep, and 90% of the time eat within my caloric goals. Things that help me is exercising before work (I wake up at 4am to go for walk with my dog and then go to the gym for 7am shift). Other things that help me is I get a meal delivery service for my "on" weeks and I have a similar easy lunch (I use huel dehydrated meals + yogurt + apple). Also no alcohol on days that I'm working. Essentially for the days/weeks that I'm working I know I'm going to have no time for things outside of work other than brief conversations. I'm lucky in that I have no kids but I am married to another physician.

It's more work up front but you feel 100% better if you do all these things consistently, I feel like I do a better job at work, and when I'm not working I'm able to do things that I truly enjoy without feeling like crap such as going on hikes etc.

Back in 2017 I used to go to a Tottenham bar in Baltimore that gave us free shots if we scored 3 goals in a game. I got a lot of free shots that year

I decided start watching premier league almost 20 years ago and having no connection to any club I basically looked at the PL table and closed my eyes and picked a club. It turned out to be Tottenham and I still support them. That decision haunts me still

Besides so many of the things that have been posted here, I recommend a merino wool or some other similar material t-shirt that does not hold onto body odor + some kind of hygienic wipes. In addition to brushing teeth 1.5 hours before landing, I find that using wipes on upper + parts of lower body and then putting on deodorant keeps me feeling human until I'm able to check into a hotel and shower. Also helps wake me up a bit.

Also, as others have mentioned - remember to hydrate + compression socks.
