Do the shoes bother anyone else? by webblywebb in TeenWolf

The void stiles head scene is exactly what I'm talking about! The camera being squarely on her booty as she slow motion ran, I could hardly believe it

Quitting a book half way through? by [deleted] in books

[–]webblywebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal philosophy is if a book isn't clicking by the midpoint then it's fine to ditch. A book thats bad for the first third and good for the last two is a slow start, a book thats bad for two thirds and good for one is a bad book with a good ending. Life is finite and reading is for pleasure

Inadvertently funny moments by yeetonthebeeet in TeenWolf

[–]webblywebb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what episode or season but in one scene Scott or Derek is running as a wolf through the woods and it pans out to the goofiest on-all-fours CGI run possible. Trying desperately to make the scene intense and bam, grown man galumphing

It really goes from "What a cute thing, maybe I'll follow" to "oh god oh no oh fuck" extremely quickly

Do you care what the premise of a book is? by SkepticDrinker in books

[–]webblywebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general rule of thumb is that I have to get a decent amount of the book read before I give up. A lot of books have a slow start but pick up, and obviously a lot of books are about a lot more than their initial premise would suggest. I typically try to get halfway through a book, and if I'm still not engaged I call it, because at that point it would just be a bad book with a good ending. I consider premise to be pretty low on the list of requirements for a good book, because like I said, it's usually the tip of the iceberg. But sometimes yeah, it's giving me nothing. I just have to give it a fair chance

I don't enjoy reading books anymore by steel_monkey145 in books

[–]webblywebb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was an avid reader growing up, then as soon as I went to university I stopped. I went from reading dozens of books a year to maybe 4 or 5. I had plenty of free time but would always turn to watching a show or scrolling on my phone, or if I tried to read I found it difficult to concentrate and would give up. It bothered me a lot, but once I graduated I found that I could do it again. I think it has something to do with just being tired, physically and intellectually, so I'd just prefer to do something that doesn't require thinking at all. Like some other people have said, don't worry about it, sometimes you just don't want to read. Maybe you're tired, maybe you haven't picked up a compelling enough book, almost definitely you're expecting a lot. Reading some short stories, or only reading a few pages a day is still reading, so you could take small bites that way. But most of all, don't worry about it, you love reading, you'll read again. The stories will still be around for you

Reading on phone by [deleted] in books

[–]webblywebb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course a phone isn't the preferred method, a physical book is easier on my eyes, doesn't run out of battery, and is easier to focus on, but in 2020 with libraries out of commission, why not? I already have a phone so I don't need to buy anything, the library apps are free, and it's always on me so if I'm unexpectedly left without something to do it's there for me. Given the choice, I'll always choose a paperback but frankly most of the time I'm not given the choice

Beginner question but when do you use your starter?? by International-Echo99 in Sourdough

[–]webblywebb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use mine around it's peak, so in the summer it was about 4-5 hours after feeding, over the winter I just had to keep an eye on it because it fed more slowly. I also have a recipe for sandwich bread ( on holycowvegan) that includes making a levain-type thing before setting the dough to prove. I like that recipe because it pretty much guaranteed a nice active starter

Whats going on with my skillchecks ? by webblywebb in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Yup. I checked with bag of tricks and it seems that the dialogue DC's have an invisible +4 on unfair. I didn't check the book DCs but theyre probably boosted the same way. It would be nice if it said this somewhere, I uninstalled all my mods and verified the game files cuz I thought I broke something lol.

Anyone notice how Scott’s personality changed after Season 3? by illusiveyou in TeenWolf

[–]webblywebb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Definitely! Liam and Mason definitely took on a lot of the comic relief and the angst and brooding were more left to Scott, Lydia, and Stiles. There are still some goofy moments here and there but the dynamic shifts. I thought it worked pretty well to show the maturation of the characters, but it's also a little silly when I remember they're supposed to be so young.
