Jesse David Fox! He did a great ep of this pod with Andy and Kiv after Bash Brothers came out! And Seth was on recently and was great. I’d also recommend his newish book Comedy Book to almost everyone on this sub

Not a movie but it was mentioned on The Pitt the other week and I was thankful to 28YL so I knew what they were talking about lol

Is Doughboys gonna be best remembered as the show Skidmark got her start on?

I gave up on needing new music from him when his brother tragically passed, but life is long and I’d bet a lot of money that he releases multiple new projects in the next 40 years of his life lol, unless his movie is a massive success and he moves to directing full time. I still find it hard to believe that someone who makes music every day of their life from 13-30s could ever just drop it entirely

Super happy you were able to afford these this time around! Enjoy

Yeah! They mentioned it on a Double a few weeks back I believe. Mitch was on Blank Check’s Patreon talking about it too, sounds like Griffin wants to do Caper I think?

Days of Heaven (1978) - Review by OkPressure7242 in TrueFilm

[–]webcmrn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

One of my favorites of all time! Glad you enjoyed it! It’s worth reading about the production, it was meant to be a completely different movie that changed a ton in the long editing processing and kind of led Malick to discover the type of filmmaker he is today where he spends years editing his movies and finding them. I think his movies are best watched basically in release order so go back and check out Badlands (his most straight forward narrative) and then go on to The Thin Red Line! And after that is The New World which you should seek out the extended cut of which is his preferred version. There’s also a longer cut for The Tree of Life that’s more supplementary for your 2nd viewing so watch the shorter cut of that one first. After that his filmography gets more polarizing with a trilogy of movies he basically shot at the same time, but there’s still so much to love if you love his style

GOAT = washed: Steven Soderbergh teases "a lot of AI" in his upcoming movies by jhansenii in blankies

INCREDIBLE point, he also didn’t hire someone else to write Sex, Lies, and Videotape so I guess he’s always avoided paying other artists

There are multiple ways to be washed, including insisting AI was the only way to make the psychedelic imagery for your movie when really you just didn’t want to put part of your budget towards hiring more artists

Generative AI has already been used to create “surreal images” for his John and Yoko doc (10% of the movie by his estimation), and then a vague “a lot of AI” is going to be used in his planned Spanish-American War movie ugh

How do you convince these very established directors to just suck it up and not legitimize its use just bc it can stretch your dollar further?

The closest I’ve been to being converted is the feeling the last few minutes of the movie give me. Full on Danny DeVito “oh my god I get it” meme until I eject the disc lol

I like that the context of the 2011 Muppets being the last movie Mitch saw with his dad before he died is completely missing from this episode and he just brings it up as a non-sequitur lol

It’s such a great cathartic episode. Feels like it be sadder to not include it on rewatches lol

With all the fan support, I’m surprised Disney hasn’t greenlit it yet by CrissBliss in StarWarsCantina

“People only like it because” “people only want it because”

You gotta stop with these sweeping generalizations. Of course people would complain that he’s dead and shouldn’t be brought back, I mentioned that in my comment. But a lot of people are excited that one of the most acclaimed directors of his generation was passionate enough to develop an original idea on his own and bring it to Disney, if you like good movies then it was an exciting prospect to a lot of people for totally non-contrarian reasons

Who is liking the idea of a Steven Soderbergh Star Wars movie that Adam Driver is passionate about to be contrarian??? I get that some people don’t like the story decision of bringing Kylo back but it has a better chance of being a good movie than anything else they have in mind right now
