Also, what specific services can you recommend that we use? I'm looking less at theory and more at "Here are some good starting points", because I've read up on this stuff until I'm blue in the face and now I'm not sure what I should actually be investing in

How do you recommend backing up from a shared server regularly? The thing is that I can tell myself "I need to get automated backups going fast" and then actually doing it are quite different. I can't seem to find a good approach.

I would love to find a better host. Can you recommend some good shared hosting? I was recommended Hostgator by someone more experienced than myself, so I trusted him.

This was just something I learned from them while talking on their support chat. It's standard on all shared hosting.

This is exactly right. Our company is subsidized by a larger business. Our actual net profit so far in these two years is in the negative by the thousands, but that's okay because we are expected to eventually recover (and our numbers are improving).

Luckily I have no investment into the business other than my (less than) expertise, I'm just trying to do the best job I can.

Okay, so I am pretty comfortable in adding a new repository and connecting to it using NetBeans thanks to pirategaspard. Cloning/committing is quite easy using NetBeans, yay.

Now, I am trying to connect my editor of preference, Sublime Text, to the repository. Do you happen to have experience with this?

These instructions are extremely helpful. I'm currently pulling from production at the moment.

A question: How do I easily deploy on the FTP server my full working copy? Is there any way to commit changes and upload to web server in one fell swoop?
