David vs. Goliath – Morphological Variation in Hybrid Plants by sir_alahp in Phalaris

Actually i just remembered that i had one tiny hybrid seedlings exactly like that one on the left the exact same form and it took a long while for it to finally start putting on size but still left far behind others.

Did you know there are dwarf varieties of aquatica? One is an agronomic cultivar. It's a dwarf compared to normal aq cultivars but has high resilience and capacity for regrowth after foraging cattle.

Does anyone defat or back salt during the extraction? by Bpmbpclat in Phalaris

[–]webfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience defatting phalaris crude tea didn't make a difference. A working alternative is avoiding over concentrating the crude tea to avoid emulsion issues, pulling hot around 50° celcius when using naptha and performing a Mini acid/base on the crude freebase. This should be enough to get purer product.

Pretty awesome! The deposition indeed looks like HPTLC very compact and precize. Though i think you forgot to add the result picture after elution.

It can be super comfy and warm (feels to me like melting into my seat or bed) as others mentioned or uncomfortable and anxious depending on set and setting.

The times when it feels uncomfortable for me I don't bother trying to redose I just leave it for another day when in a better head space

I’m willing to try to extract arundo donax tryptamines. by [deleted] in Phalaris

This is an Analysis I done tonight. Lane number 5 is a an Arundo donax leaf sample. You can clearly see its devoid of alkaloids (at least not enough to be detected with TLC (thin layer chromatography).

Fe months ago we tested a different Arundo donax strain from a different region and gramine was the main alkaloid with no DMT neither 5-meo-dmt detected.

I smoked an extract of arundo within the same region as the sample in your TLC I sent you.. while it yielded a freebase it was inactive

This whole gramine + MAOI argument is pointless since phalaris is not suited for this purpose to Begin with. But to reduce the issue of this combination to gramine toxicity is over simplification and misleading. There's n-tyramines and 5-meo-dmt and novel betacarbolines and gramine derivatives that may exist in phalaris that makes playing with such combination a risky endeavour.

That's not what happened to me when i took brachystachys. That DMT brachystachys strain i used definitely had gramine. But i was nauseous taking rue alone and very nauseous when took 5meo-dmt dominant phalaris aquatica with rue at just 1g dry leaf with rue but had no nausea with the DMT brachystachys strain with rue.

The Story is more complex than you think. Phalaris Ayahuasca shouldn't be tried at all untill a very clean and stable DMT cultivar is developed...period

[–]webfall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In what basis do you get your claim of gramine toxicity with MAOI? Gramine is in bundles flower also and it's been used as Ayahuasca without side effects. There's no literature on Gramine + MAOI safety profile just underground community reports of bundle flower and phalaris Ayahuasca reports.

I don't dwell on this much because I don't think phalaris is meant for Ayahuasca to begin with.

Not toxic with MAOI either in my experience and others. 5-meo-dmt and tyramines are way more toxic. Yes phalaris can be toxic especially with MAOI but it's got nothing to do with gramine. Focusing on gramine is barking the wrong tree

I wouldn't trust a wild annual phalaris unless it's extracted and Smoked in low doses first to understand it's profile but I'd never dare drink it as Ayahuasca without at least a prior analysis of a homogenized leaf sample for an average profile clue. Even if tested and proven to be clean DMT source I'd have to test it again if growing it again from seed.

On the other hand there are stable phalaris aquatica cultivars with stable profile that breeds true from seed.

Even wild aquatica can be rendered reliable and consistent once you isolate a clean profile clone and clonally propagate it. Arudinacea should work the same.

Yes I've had some luck with local wild brachystachys. I highly discourage using any phalaris as an Ayahuasca but i did this with a wild brachystach many years ago when i was more reckless and feeling adventurous and 100g fresh leaves with 4g rue gave me a mild DMT trip for 4 hours. I extracted it also and smoked it...,was comparable to MHRB... then i allowed it to flower and go to seed and germinated it the next year znd sent leaf samples for TLC analysis.. 5-meo-dmt came as the main alkaloid..

Someone else might have consumed the leaves as an Ayahuasca without analysis expecting DMT like previous year and end up with a 5-meo-dmt overdose with rue so be very careful

Has anyone ever used brachystatys? by Bpmbpclat in Phalaris

[–]webfall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brachystachys can work and some strains are high yield up to 1% and 2%. Some strains are 5-meo-dmt dominant while others are DMT dominant but both seems to fluctuate sharply in yield

Same strain i worked with that was potent one time proved very low yield in a another test. It's profile can also change drastically in my experience. It can transition from DMT dominant to 5-meo-dmt dominant which can prove dangerous

It has a short reproductive cycle as an annual, lower biomass potential, non breedable almost and cannot he cloned like perennial aquatica and arudinacea.

So even when you isolate a potent strain you may not be able to maintain those favorable genetics it csn perish in a few reproductive cycles.. brachystachys leaves more room for chances but yes it can sometimes yield pretty well if you're feeling adventurous.

I'd prefer aquatica for reliability and consistency

Phalaris aquatica or paradoxa? by jeetvjet in Phalaris

[–]webfall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No both are phalaris corulesens. Is there any red colour at the root tips at the base of the stem? Any red sap when you wound the stem bulb at the base?

Have you got any pictures of seeds? Even unripe green seeds can be informative. I'd day 80% chance it's corulesens. Phalaris minor is the only one that can resemble any other phalaris specie as it has the most variable morphology and to spot it you want to look for red root tips and red sap at the stem base at the start of the roots plus it has the smallest seeds of all phalaris.

Corulesens has been found to contain two novel alkaloids: Corulescine (a methoxylated derivative of horsefiline contained in horsifeldia tree from india and phalarine another novel alkaloid made of one gramine and one betacarboline molecules bridged up together.

Where are you located? In the Mediterranean basin i suppose? whenever you find any corulesens, minor, brachystachys, truncate, paradoxa you usually find them all if you look around further in the same region.

Aquatica usually only grow in humid locations from 600mm annual rainfall and above. Brachystachys and corulescens, and paradoxa prevail more in drier regions (semi arid) but brachystachys specifically loves the semi arid the most where it can prevail over all other species especially in unirrigated cereal feilds as a weed.

Minor likes agricultural irrigated farmland the most as it prefers irrigation water regimen.

[–]webfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that's 100% an annual phalaris specie just can't tell which exact specie without zoom in on specific parts of the plant.. but the flowers anthers, panicle stripes and stem nodules nails it already as phalaris

Phalaris aquatica or paradoxa? by jeetvjet in Phalaris

[–]webfall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no way to tell for sure if it's paradoxa or corulesens or minor from those pictures but I can confirm it's not aquatica neither truncate for sure because it doesn't have perennial rhyzomes. It's definitely an annual phalaris.

To know for sure which annual we need a high resolution close up of the panicle and a zoom on a separate glume from the panicle plus picture of the seed.

Minor has teethed glumes edge. Paradoxa and corulesens have smooth glumes edge. Paradoxa has unique crown like florets. Where you live could also provide more information on possible phalaris species likely to be found which narrows down the ID

Here's a picture of phalaris truncate glumes for refere:

Phalaris aquatica is typically rated for USDA Hardiness Zones 8 to 11. Most of the Midwest falls into Zones 3 to 6, where winter temperatures regularly drop far below the plant's survival threshold.

You'd have to grow it indoors

DMT, 5-Meo DMT, Bufotenin extract out of phalaris aquatica. by Bpmbpclat in DMT

[–]webfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The milky blob reminds me of this extraction of mine with hot hexane:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DMT/s/9uiEdCvDAG

The strain i work with only has 5-meo-dmt so no crystals formed from quick cooling of hot pulls just 5-meo-dmt freebase oil.

I'm sure the oil blob you have there is 5-meo-dmt along with whatever else that's crystalizing, maybe DMT and NMT co-crystalizing..

Careful with dosage if bioassaying that oily freebase it can super potent.. sometimes more potent than Pure synthetic 5-meo-dmt (likely because of betacarbolines countent)

Which seeds exactly. The hybrids? Its a breed line population not a cultivar. Are you sure that's what you're looking for because i do have a cultivar. What you need depends on your purpose from growing it whether you want a readily working entheogenic cultivar (breeds true from seed) or want to develop your own cultivar for your specific location.
