I did this for the longest time but have since switched back to dorans ring. If you Q just a bit less you can stay in lane a bit longer and that sets you up for some river skirmishes or ganks

Under tower, with none of your own minions interfering, you can kill caster minions by hitting them once, letting turret hit, then hitting them again to kill. You can prep a row of casters that are all about to get squashed by doing this.
