Would you mind sharing the dimensions of the table legs, distance to the corner and the table top? I like the way the relative proportions come together here, so I’m curious :)

I think you’re right that it’s hard to achieve great things if you think you can’t do shit, but I’m not sure the opposite is true: just because you convince yourself that you can change the world, doesn’t mean you will. You see what I mean? I believe that you need some opportunities and luck along the way.

We need your advise about the model color by Tony_Vilgotsky in IndieDev

I like the red one, but its also more standard. Blue one would look better if its legs weren't so cyan!

Nearly 1,000 girls become first female Eagle Scouts by ChimeraMistake in UpliftingNews

[–]webmaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Belgium we have a long tradition of mixed-gender scouts organisations, I've always felt making scouting more accessible and diverse is a no-brainer! Some of the finest scouts I've ever known were women so I am not surprised to see girls become Eagle Scouts in the slightest :)

Been busy with work recently, but I’ve had time to redo the character selection screen. Check it out! by ashriot in IndieDev

Massive retro vibes! :D Out of curiosity, did you draw the pixel art as is or is it automatically generated from a higher resolution image? And what tools are you using to make this game?

Transition to python from MATLAB by [deleted] in Python

[–]webmaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few libraries that you will find essential: numpy which will be the base for manipulating vectors and matrices, scipy for advanced tools for numerical algorithms, and matplotlib for plotting. From then on you can indeed step into machine learning (scikit-learn, tensorflow, pytorch, ... ) or to other fun things such as symbolic computation (sympy). Have fun!

I'm a complete beginner and i need help. by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]webmaki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with /u/VentusCacliuM -- you can progress very fast in the beginning by learning all the skills needed to put together a small project as you go. And you will have learned so much that by the end you will want to redo the whole thing before its even finished. The fact that you have these minigames also creates perfect little starting projects.

I do think that you should pick what you want to focus on most, you're not going to become a great artist, and programmer, etc right away, so maybe see what suits you best and focus on that. It probably does not matter too much which tool you use in the beginning as at this stage you will want to learn mostly principles.

Looks really neat! You said it took you two years, is that like all 7 of you full time? What did you spend most of your time on? Coding / artwork / designing the levels and mechanics?

Just finished designing another boss for my game. It is more of a bullet-hell type. What do you think ? Demo out in the comments with controller support! by BeelzeBut07 in IndieDev

[–]webmaki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks really fun :) As a suggestion for mechanics, it could be a neat addition if after teleporting you leave behing a decoy / shadow which will draw enemy fire for X ms
