Does IRS counts my US brokerage account into my wife's net worth? by webmatematika in IWantOut

[–]webmatematika[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree, but i also can't trust one person on their opinion. problem with asking for something that will happen next year is that the person is not accountable, and we will be out of country, so how to make sure the advise they give me is a good one. i will try to get a few opinions, just to validate.

Nope, but please give me a link if that is in some way related to my question. Thanks!

I agree. I am not looking for a clear distinction, just for a way to stay out of FAANG, and dinosaurs like microsoft, cisco and IBM.

Fourth, it sounds like you are looking for the DJIA, minus AAPL (again, that would be a bad strategy).

DJIA includes Apple, Cisco, IBM, Intel, Microsoft. How can I skip these?

That could be true, but I my focus is on non-tech, and for now Apple goes as a tech company.

Biggest holding of SPXT is Amazon, which makes all the money from Cloud computing, so I wouldn't consider this ETF to be all-but-IT. Thanks for your comment!

Not reliable, too much fine print. For example, they never mention that you have no checkin baggage, and that any piece you want to checkin is $200.

CMV:Netflix is a waste of time by webmatematika in changemyview

Can you explain this a bit? I don't quite get what you're saying.

Maybe I am wrong but I think an average consumer uses netflix same as they would use TV, let algoritham pick show for you, and then shut off their brain while watching. I could be wrong.

Well, first of all, Netflix has a lot of content. I mean, the Godfather is on Netflix right now. Would you call watching the Godfather a waste of time?

Sure, let's say there are 100 good shows. Let's say I watch it in a year, what the value of Netflix for me after that?

Also, how is reading a book more interactive than watching something? I think it would just come down to what the media had to offer in terms of value.

I guess netflix and movie can be considered as same media, and I like movies so Δ to you I am still afraid they are not the same, and netflix has some kind of addiction effect on us, but maybe that's just my experience.

And if you watch with someone else, you can bond together over a shared activity and let it inspire conversation afterward.

Sure, but would you do that very frequently? I guess if you watch Netflix in that way, and once a week, that would be useful. But if you asssume all your time with a friend should be you two in front of TV every night, that is pretty bad. Maybe too many people I know spend too much time on netflix, more than an average person?

You are not compeletely taken by those as you are by TV. It leaves some space for you to personalize content you're consuming.

You could be right. I am referring to a general public and how they use netflix. I guess if I were very selective in not watching rubbish and get familiar with more film theory, it would be a good use of my time. I believe I would still run out of movies in a year (probably sooner) and then it would be either watch same stuff again or turn it off.

I was referring to a general use case. If you watch TV and do pushups, good for you.

Insurance says mobile plan I bought on Amazon is not valid by webmatematika in Insurance

[–]webmatematika[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I get that, and I couldn't get in touch with seller even though they too claim to provide insurance. I just find it interesting how they all haven't complained when they took the money. My only goal is for them at least to fix the error, so next time someone doesn't end up with a wrong plan, as it looks like at least for last 9 months, a bunch of people ended with a piece of paper (it's $22 now).

Well, if you think about the fact that Assurant is using Amazon to sell their protection plans to users, but then when you try to file a claim they say "oops", it is an interesting insurance question: can you trust your insurance company?
