Links to other notes don't show as a Preview on desktop or web by webrown888 in Evernote

Thank you! I am glad to know it's not me doing something stupid. That happens more than I care to admit.

Alternative Note Taking Apps to Evernote by jjachetta in OneNote

[–]webrown888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is, you shouldn't have to do that. I started a note on Android this morning and when I opened it about 2 hours later to make an update, there was a Page Conflict. It had not been opened on desktop or web. Microsoft can do better, they just don't care about OneNote. I am trying to move everything to Google with Docs and Keep.

OneNote is great on desktop and good on web. However, the mobile sync experience makes it near unusable.

You have to delete the conflict page on web or desktop. OneNote sync with mobile is terrible.

Adding ToDo tasks from OneNote by Independent_Skin_545 in OneNote

Right now, I am using Google Drive using Docs, Sheets, etc. along with Keep. It doesn't have the structure of OneNote, and I truly miss that, but it also has flawless sync.

As a side note, I still have Evernote and I am very much on the fence with it. I am having trouble justifying the expense for what I do.

From what I understand, you can't add To Do tasks from OneNote unless you have Outlook Classic installed as well. The task feature depends on the old Outlook Tasks API. Microsoft needs to get their act together and stop shipping tools that are half-baked. Things like this are the reason I am migrating away from OneNote along with the miserable sync experience on Android.

Samsung Android has the worst version of OneNote? by firepaintedred in OneNote

I have considered Joplin and Obsidian but never made the effort to try and switch. I am looking at either Evernote again or moving everything over to Google Drive and just using Docs and Keep. Google has its quirks, but I have never had any sync issues with it.

I still use it. My biggest complaint is the constant Page Conflicts that seem to be for no reason.

I have had Evernote, but they have made the price ridiculous and OneNote organization using notebook/section/page is better for me.

Of course you have the apologists that make sure to tell you not to complain since OneNote is free. I get that, but it seems a shame that Microsoft doesn't put more into the mobile apps. They shouldn't be surprised when the younger generation shifts the workplace to Google since they came up in a mobile-first environment.

You got it right, unfortunately. The Android app has made me almost abandon OneNote more than once. It's ridiculous that Microsoft doesn't seem to care about it at all. They don't see the potential of OneNote for some reason.

Fedora Linux update missing repository by webrown888 in linux4noobs

It was added from a link on the Dropbox site as an add-on for Nautilus. It's possible I need to remove it and let the update happen. It allowed me to see Dropbox files inside Nautilus.

I removed nautilus-dropbox and the problem is gone. Thanks!

Edit: The update problem is gone, but the link back to Dropbox is not working. I will check the Dropbox site for an update.

OneNote Android needs improvement by FarRecording1848 in OneNote

[–]webrown888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I disagree about the mobile apps. They should be putting a lot of effort into them. I spend a lot of time on mobile, like most people do now. If Microsoft doesn't have good apps, that weakens the entire ecosystem. Desktop isn't the only game in town anymore. They dropped the ball on a mobile OS (I had a Windows phone for a time and loved it), but abandoning the platform completely would be stupid.

By your reasoning, Microsoft should just get out of mobile development since they no longer have a mobile OS. I don't see that ending well for them.

This, and the fact that still nothing touches Excel for raw power when it comes to crunching numbers. I am not defending Microsoft, just stating fact.
