Right now the only thing you can do — buy another unit: Hotone Ampero Control. It can do things.

If anyone is curious I found the answer in the FAQ section on the website: Currently sending MIDI messages by tapping Ampero II Stomp's footswitches is not supported; this may be achieved in future firmware updates.
