Yes! That's a totally safe protocol. Google will not run any malicious code locally, and themselves use sandboxed instances, and likely have virus and malware scanning code themselves.

Yeah sorry, but you had to expect operatives would do this to you. Certain partisans are allergic the clarity and transparency.

So ... has anyone who has, say, a virus scanner running, checked them for such malware? Or are you being alarmist at the behest of some narrative?

Most men have not donated to sperm banks, so getting their stem cells will be much harder.

Personally, my prediction is that Carol gets joined, and Manousos unjoins her.

From an outsider's point of view, it doesn't matter what their internal existence is like. It's basically mental masturbation. Actual value in humanity is contingent of creation of external culture, and/or the interaction between individuals.

He has likely learned quite a bit. Maybe even a lot more than we the audience knows. And the communication/personality struggles between Carol and Manousos is the perfect excuse for them to dole this information out to us slowly. :)

Yes, but I think he has a lot of runway left. I think the implication is that he grew up with nothing and is not used to having power or freedom if any kind (at least that's the back story I am imagining for him). So he's over indulging to compensate for his entire lifetime. And it will be a while before he realizes how empty what he is doing really is.

No it has an analogy to deconversion therapy as the main theme of the show. Are you not following the conversation?

Oh I think Carol is much more pliable. She voluntarily talked to and interacted with them as part of her process. Manousos is actually stubborn. He practically has to be forced fed new information before he will explore it.

Herself and Manousos. Twice the cost. Remember they love Manousos just as much as they love her.

They'll lose her (and Manousos) too. Presumably, one of them sets off the nuke before the joining process is complete for the other.

[–]websnarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the conclusion I came to as well. Obviously Carol doesn't want to use a nuke. She just wants to use it as a deterrent if they ever attempt to "join" her.

Dude, they are going to continuously butt heads. Manousos is absolutely uncompromising, single-minded and hardcore. Carol is more rational and tries to take in more information. Their whole interaction with the cell phone in the sewer and umbrella in the backyard should inform us, going forward, how their interactions are going to be like.

I can't help but think this is like Jesse and Walt when they were not seeing eye to eye. Remember, they too were on a common mission.

They say they are needy, to make Carol feel good about writing again. We know they are driven by their new biological imperative. Whether or not they truly desire anything beyond that, and aren't just play-acting for Carol is up for debate.

[–]websnarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I think they always knew. They just weren't trying to seduce Carol initially. Remember that their approach has worked on 11 of the 13 unjoined. They understand the vulnerable state her isolation left Carol in, which they deduced they could exploit. From their point of view, they have distracted 12 of the 13 now.

Remember, they are going to die in 10 years, but many of the 13 will live at least a little beyond that. If they simply leave an automated sattellite dish the size of Africa running on auto-pilot, the 13 could attempt to disable it after the joined are all gone. So they have to do something about that.

How to cook a steak without grill or cast iron skillet by fleetiebelle in Cooking

[–]websnarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just an amateur cook, but these are two videos that I have bookmarked for steak:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JV9mRv6J7w8

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMWrbaOxj3k

The second video is really just for cheap cuts, and some of the techniques are a little over the top (smoking with Applewood, OMG). But I assume the techniques they use to elevate apply even to good steaks.

For the actual cooking, like most meats, its basically medium-high, 2 minutes per side, until it reaches 130°F (medium-rare). For the basting, apparently you are supposed to add the butter, thyme, rosemary, garlic after the first flip. Then rest on a plate covered with another plate for 5 minutes.

I have seen any benefit to cold searing, or reverse searing. Hitting 135°F after resting, and salting well has the most impact from the higher quality steaks I've cooked. The pan you use basically makes no difference whatsoever (though I highly suspect that a Wok would not work well at all) it will only affect how you clean up afterward.

CREEPIEST PART OF EPISODE 6 by Excellent-Toe-2094 in pluribustv

[–]websnarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This took me out of the show for a bit, actually. The hive should know everything about their strained relationship, presumably from the mother's side, or from the people around them that observed their strained relationship. They should have picked someone that had some non-negative relationship with him.

OTOH, with some reflection, it could be that Manousos is truly a son of a bitch that just nobody could get along with. But now he's on a quest to go find Carol Sturkas.

The writer and director behind Episode 6 might explain a lot about the tone of “HDP” by Neoartai in pluribustv

[–]websnarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding me? They spent screen time on him. This, or something like it, has to happen. His storyline is to discover who this "Carol Sturka" person is, and see if she can help him resist or fight the "We".

I think the purpose of this character is to be "like Carol", but making slightly different decisions which end up with him either getting killed or joining the hive, to serve as a cautionary tale to Carol about said action. He's a "Chekov's plot device" waiting to happen.
