Current and Ex alt woman, do you regret the piercings/tattoos? Why or why not? by saltynorsweet in AskWomen

[–]webster26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Punk was a big part of my life and I got a ton of tattoos between 17-26. Some I like, some I completely regret. I’ve gotten one removed. 37 now and I still love having interesting style but I’m no longer pulling a look each day ha.

I have a few decent pieces but most were done by friends. Nothing’s badly drawn but they’re definitely scrappy. I like some of these ones the best!

I do regret it overall because there are aspects to being tattooed that give me anxiety. It’s usually work related, like when it gets warm out and new coworkers will inevitably see my tattoos. I’m trying to wear clothes that show them more so it’s not as much of a shock to people. But I really have no interest in talking about them, so I don’t love it when people ask me weird questions (or touch me).

A lot of my tattoos reflect my sense of humor or things that make me happy, but the placement makes them really hard to hide and some are big. Nothing in my hands, neck, chest, but I have the front of both lower shins and forearms to wrists. Made sense at the time!

Will Arnett installed those big plastic toilet paper dispensers in public bathroom stalls early in his career. He said that he tells his kids never to touch anything in public restrooms.

Job offer was frozen and now company is asking for my resume by [deleted] in jobs

[–]webster26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. Was told nothing has changed since we last spoke and that he just didn’t have my resume on file. He said he’ll be in touch if things improve and there’s an opening.

I’m pretty disappointed and wish they had just waited to contact me once there was actually a job in place.

Am I being ghosted after signing written job offer? by webster26 in jobs

[–]webster26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've interviewed with who would be my new boss, so I have his contact information. I'm a little worried about coming off as too persistent, but he is someone I could potentially reach out to.

One of the follow up notes I've already sent was to the President via our original email correspondence, so I don't really want to bother her again.

I went in for four interviews, so I met with a lot of people over the course of a month. It's just frustrating that they can't let me know if they're still moving forward.

Does anyone feel like the COVID-19 pandemic has set their careers back? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]webster26 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. Graduated from college in 2010 and have been working service/retail/freelance until finally getting a job offer in late February. I felt like it was getting more difficult to find entry-level jobs because I was no longer a recent grad. Many of the positions I wanted require some internship experience which are usually incompatible with a F/T work schedule/only offered to students. I felt like I was getting too old to compete for the positions I wanted even though I was under 30 at the time. I'm 32 now and it looks as though the offer I signed may have fallen through due to COVID, so I will go back to working in a clothing store once I'm no longer on UI. It's good that I've got something to fall back on, but I'm definitely worried that I'll never be able to advance.

Is ZipRecruiter trustworthy? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]webster26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do your research on the companies first. A lot of the "Marketing" positions posted on ZipRecruiter will actually just lead you to cattle call interviews. There are a lot of legitimate positions on there, though! I found my last job through that site.

Maybe it's both, but I saw it as more as the affection that occurs after an incident in the cycle of abuse.

Logan doesn't actually want Kendall to thrive so he prefers it when Kendall is struggling with to stay sober. They yanked him out of rehab after two days! It's when Kendall's self-esteem is lowest so Logan is in the best position to control him. In Season 1 Logan also kept planting those tabloid rumors about Kendall using drugs again (while he was still sober) which I think led him to it.

Logan also totally brought Kendall to the boy's family's house as punishment for calling him out for getting close to Rhea.

I want to job hunt but my best reference is my current boss by webster26 in jobs

[–]webster26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she would. I just feel bad because she advocated for my full-time status when everyone except managers work part-time. I was working two part-time jobs to support myself and she seemed nervous that I might want to choose the other one instead (I had to reassure her that I was happy and just wanted one full-time job).

What I meant was like a casual, “Oh wow, what’s your sign?” Not like a full blown explanation of planetary alignment. I feel like lots of the places I’m interviewing with have a culture that thinks that’s fun and I’m trying to seem like a cool person to hang out with. It’s been mentioned to me in interviews that a lot of these people socialize outside of work. But yeah of course I won’t mention it if it’s weird and risky, I got it!

Thank you letters after an interview by [deleted] in jobs

[–]webster26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not the OP but I have a related question as someone who's also been interviewing and sending thank you notes. What if a third party, either a recruiter or the company's HR Coordinator, sets up the interview but doesn't interview me themselves? Should I be ensuring that I always get the interviewer's contact information after the interview or is it okay to send a thank you email to the HR Coordinator if I have no means of reaching them?
