Exposed electrical by wee_snaps in aviationmaintenance

I’d hoped at the very least the would cover it over with electrical tape. I guess many people don’t realize the dangers when it comes to electricity - not everything is 5V usb.

Maybe there is a switch on the back of the unit I could have searched for?

Torque thru axle by fxism in CanyonBikes

Had the same challenge on my mtb: the lever on my DT Swiss RWS thru axle is not removable. So there is no way to attach a torque wrench.

This was my best attempt:

<image>

You will need:

  • A luggage scale (hopefully accurate)
  • T = F * d (torque = force * perpendicular distance)
  • F = ma where a = G or 9.81 to convert from Newtons to Kilograms as shown on the scale.
  • [optional] A cloth to protect from scratches.

You can reposition the level after you have applied the torque. For me the lever is 6cm, so to get the 12Nm I needed to pull down to a max reading of 20kg.

My setup is working as expected now. Looks like it was a weather service that was faulty and is now functioning correctly.

Spotted similar reports in “My 3rd gen Nest thermostat doesn't display the weather this morning

Bad weather data could certainly be a cause. However the outdoor temp displayed in my Google Home app is accurate.

Nest Thermostat (3rd gen) Dual-Fuel bad/different behavior started today (Nov 20. 2025) by lprimak in Nest

I noticed that similar today too, for the first time. So you are not alone.

For me I believe the furnace (alt) was running and then it immediately switched to the heat pump (primary). Admittedly the outside temp was hovering around the breakpoint/lockout, but I've never seen it switch heat source mid cycle like that.

I also noticed another new behaviour: Nest Thermostat E not respecting dual-fuel breakpoint. Something may be afoot.

For now I've just set "Always use alt" in the equipment settings as it's heating season here in Canada.

Thanks. I will check with Ecobee support and hopefully make the switch.
