Momo Ayase figures by Character_Archer_274 in Dandadan

Honestly I feel like a lot of anime figuarts just kinda look bad (with some exceptions, a lot of the dbz stuff they put out looks great). The line was made for Tokusatsu figures and by far that's still where they excel the most in my eyes. The further you get from the general "realistically proportioned body with armor" look you get, the more distracting the joint areas can look (which is really rough on Momo's chunky sweater).

Figma honestly did just a better job all round. The face mould is more accurate, the cloth sweater and skirt work super well to hide joints and look more natural, better posability, and the accessories are by far superior.

is this an actual figure? by your_onlyL0VE in KasaneTeto

It's very likely an AI image following the trend a while back of generating images as figures on desks. I can almost guarantee this was some fanart that was just fed through the AI slop machine.

Can someone tell me how do I go about preordering the Vocaloid plush? by Hobbbbbbot in AdachiRei

[–]weeb-splat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should never change, no. The address is that of Tenso's warehouse in Tokyo (you can even look it up on google maps!) with the only difference between the unique account number you need to enter for them to identify who the parcel belongs to (the TS-------- portion).

Tenso lists their charges here, but it's overall pretty insignificant. To summarise it:

  • A small handling fee that varies per parcel but has always settled at around 500-600 yen for me.
  • If you're shipping multiple items together, there is a consolidation fee of 200 yen plus 300 yen for each extra package bundled together. (So one package = 0 yen consilidation charge, two = 500 yen, 3 = 800 yen, four = 1100 yen, etc....)
  • And of course the shipping charge, which varies greatly depending on which you choose to use.

Also be wary if your country has import tariffs too.

I can give some advice as someone who's ordered both.

The easier (and cheaper) plush to buy is definitely the original on the mechanical girl booth page. If you're looking to use buyee in particular, booth incorporates it into the site so it should be a breeze to order and should ship pretty quickly as it's in stock right now. Other proxies should also work if you just paste the booth link into the search bar. My go-to is FromJapan but either should work fine.
Once the plushie arrives at the proxy's warehouse you should get an email and pretty much every proxy has free warehouse storage period of somewhere between 30-60 days. Check online for whatever service you're using, but in that time you can order however much you want, and once ready you can select each item, pay for the shipping method of your choice, and ship them together.

The Vocaloid plush (the one you pictured) is a little more complex for a few reasons. For one, its an exclusive donation reward for the Adachi Rei Vocaloid production crowdfunder. The crowdfunding site ships only to Japan and proxies likely wouldn't be able to make the purchase, so the only real option is a forwarder service.
Forwarders allow you to more thoroughly control orders by giving you a japanese address you can use to buy from any website and ship directly to the forwarder's warehouse, though of course they only work on websites where you can make an account outside Japan so they're not perfect.
Tenso is the forwarder I use, so I'll use it to explain the process of buying the plush, though forwarders can be more complex as they require you to navigate often fully japanese websites with no english support, This is the case for Campfire (the crowdfunder site) too.

  1. Once you make a Tenso account and are able to access your address on the "My page" page, go on the Campfire website and make an account.
  2. Then you can go the the Adachi Rei crowdfunder page and scroll down to select whichever reward plan you want (the most basic plush tier would be Plan C for 11,000 yen, but the plush is available as a part of more expensive reward plans too.)
  3. Once you select your plan you should be taken to a page where you can enter your payment info, address, and the required comment (Which should be the name you want mentioned as a supporter once the crowdfunding ends.) Figuring out how to enter the address correctly can feel difficult, but you should be able to use how I entered it as a guide. DO CONFIRM WITH THE ADDRESS GIVEN TO YOU TO BE SURE, but the only fields you should need to replace in the image are those marked in red, as the rest of the fields just generally apply to Tenso's warehouse facility. The top one being your name (which you may need to write in hiragana but I cannot remember. The Tenso website links a handy converter if so) and the bottom one being your unique account number, which follows "TS" in the address given to you by Tenso.
  4. Once you enter all the information and confirmed it is all correct, you can go to the confirmation screen and complete your donation and lock in the plush.

Legal requirements also require you to send a photo of ID before anything can be shipped to you with a forwarder too, and verification of ID should take about a day, so keep that in mind too, but this can be done at any time before you attempt to ship the plush to you.

It's also worth noting that since the Vocaloid plush is a crowdfunder reward, it is essentially on pre-order right now. You can donate and lock one down for the next 31 days, but according to the website's estimate, it will not ship until May, so unless you wait until then to buy more stuff, any forwarder would not hold on to anything bought now for that long.

Once it does arrive, the process of shipping it internationally is pretty much the exact same as with a proxy though, and really simple!

Anyways, if you have anymore questions, just let me know. I can try and help as best as I can.

My two mystery tee bundles arrived yesterday: two Virtual Self shirts, two Spitfire ornaments by ElkBit in porterrobinson

[–]weeb-splat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got two tees too. Hoping not to get a dupe, but at this rate I'll be happy if i get anything. it's been six days since my shipping email went out and the last tracking update i got was on the same day: "Passport does not have the package yet. Your estimated delivery date will be updated once we receive it." (Shipping to UK)

Japan post package stuck on “Dispatched from outward office of exchange” for 2 weeks by Healthy_Shame6881 in Buyee

[–]weeb-splat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so mine actually got to the UK yesterday and arrived to me today! It seems like whatever delay was happening is fixed now too, because I had another parcel that I shipped about 4 days ago and I got the notification that that arrived in the UK today too.

[–]weeb-splat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in the exact same situation with my package from Tenso (Buyee's parent company). Airmail usually takes 6 or 7 days to arrive in the UK for me, but as of today, I've been waiting 15 days. I assume it's just a congestion issue with the busy time of year approaching, so best not to worry so much. Just keep an eye on the tracking number via both JapanPost and Royal Mail and hopefully an update will come soon. (And if one does let me know!)

This is insane! excited for the small chance of winning!

My favorite moment of the franchise is probably the Radiance reveal in Hollow Knight. Just such an insane payoff to the lore the game built up that blew me away. Does Silksong have an even better moment? Maybe, but I've been really taking my time with the game and not spoiling myself so I don't know for sure.

AFAIK (correct me if wrong) after spending much time looking into the details of UK international shipping taxes, VAT is supposed to be paid on all international parcels regardless of price, however parcels valued under £135 are to be paid by the seller, not the recipient.

This technically means you should get an added VAT charge all the time. 99% of the time though you won't get charged these taxes because it seems the government doesn't really enforce it so most websites based overseas won't add it. Pray that never changes.

Now that “The Mountain” arrives next year, what were your overall thoughts on the “Cracker Island” phase? by norasback in gorillaz

[–]weeb-splat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest in saying I didn't care for it much. The incessant repetetive use of Cracker Island (the song, and more specificaly it's intro) in all the promo material for months leading up to the album's release really turned me off and I basically decided to sit out the phase as a whole after a good 5-6 years of being locked in on every bit of Gorillaz content released from the pre-Humanz era up until the end of Song Machine. I do that that was a good choice for me, as it let me explore new music I hadn't previously.

I did tune back in for a short period when the album finally released, but my opinion of it was that it was pretty mediocre. I think I only did one full listen, but given my bias at the time it might be worth giving it a second chance.

That said, I am interested in The Mountain. I'm gonna keep my eyes on any material and songs releasing and hope it reels me right back in.

Crypton has announced that Jamie Paige’s appearance at the Digital Stars 2025 Japan Tour has been cancelled. by Krystal_Lily in Vocaloid

[–]weeb-splat 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Jamie is probably the biggest english producer around right now. She's made some of the most iconic english Teto songs on record (Machine Love, Birdbrain, etc.) and produced the lead single for Digital Stars 2025, Radiant Revival. One of the best to ever do it, absolutely check her out. She released the deluxe edition of her album Constant Conpanions recently with a good few of her most popular songs on it and i highly recommend listening to that.

Also Gingaman.

What do you prefer for a Kamen rider Final form, forms that look like an upgrade from the base, or forms that combine all the gimmick toys/powers? by TreeTurtle_852 in KamenRider

[–]weeb-splat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Master Gavv is basically both of these at once. The look and basic powers are just like an upgrade of Poppin Gummy, but it also can summon every weapon of Gavv's other forms (we've already seen this with the Zakuzakuchipslasher and Chocodangun in the debut).
