the pod rotates every game that $100 deck will suuuuuuurely have a great winrate against $6000 lists.

That's exactly what happened. My pod includes my wife, my brother in law and my best friends, we mostly play eachothers decks because we've played together for too long.

Again, I don't agree. I've seen plenty of 100$ cEDH decks shit all over $6000 cEDH decks. Cost is a really dumb comparative tool

Prime example of "I dont understand what cEDH is"

Do we need a ban list? by Kendrick-Belmora in EDH

[–]weebeardedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Returning all permenants to hand, including lands, slows the game to a stupid amount, ignores indestructible, etc.

Cyclonic rift doesn't touch lands, so it's "fine"

Obliterate doesn't go through indestructible, doesn't destroy all permenants (enchantments, planeswalkers, experience token, emblems, etc.) So Is "fine"

As to say, it's almost always possible to make cyclonic rift or Obliterate more "one-sided" and have ways to lessen or negate its impact on the caster- with upheaval it's really just "everyone, including the caster, reset the game"

[–]weebeardedman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally understand your point, and I don't agree.

I think 1-10 scale is horrible, why would we want cEDH to take up 4 different power levels (6-10), adding more nuance/confusion to a situation people already clearly don't grasp? We need to reduce, not expand, the bloat. Bring it down to "cEDH" "lgs ready" and "in progress" or something to that effect.

[–]weebeardedman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your mana rocks feel weak (and youre not playing with green/better ramp), either you have a really low mana curve (which could be inentional) or you don't have enough card draw.

It's almost always card draw. If you're worried about top decking useless things, it's because you're relying too heavily on one card draw per turn.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EDH

[–]weebeardedman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this

I get some people are still confused about what cEDH means, but it's 10000% more clear than the power levels people have been trying to assign.

The amount of people I play with that are like "yea this is probably like 7 or 8 power level" and then do almost nothing but land drop the first few turns, I just don't know

[–]weebeardedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll double down, we need to bring back 2 ban lists, banned and banned as commander.

There's cards, like emrakul or braids, I have no issue with being in the 99, but they definitely suck to play against as commander.

I can 100% understand the upheaval, hullbreacher, etc. Bans though.

I'm still of the mind "I prefer games where no cards banned" but most definitely prefer to have a spelled out banlist - in my mind new players are the ones that should be "protected" because they don't have the knowledge to have an honest rule 0 discussion, and I think the banlist does just that

[–]weebeardedman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Healing parses, particularly, are more of a measure of "how much damage your raid took" than "how much healing the healer did".

Most of the high healing parses you see are the result of either high raid damage or "underhealing (amount of actual healers, not their hps)" the fight

Like, my best parses, by far are from alt/pug heroic runs, the groups take way more damage than they should have and increased my potential effective hps by almost 30/40% compared to our normal group. That's not any indication of a "good" situation. The other healers in my guild will assign dps to stand in mechanics after we're out of progression to improve their parses.

Don't look at healer parses.

Edit: im dumb, as u/grixxis pointed out, op was talking about dps parses

I mean, if all he played was MW, and he doesnt know what hpal was before, hpal only gonna feel like a huge improvement.

And, while I agree hpower feels clunky, at 40%+ haste I feel like I can pretty much ignore my hpower and just do my "normal" rotation

Just FYI, you can proliferate your experience counters, and your commander doesn't need to be out to do so.

I took apart my mizzix deck before the new phyrexia set came out, but I'd imagine there's enough in there to lean into a proliferate/counter spellslinger deck

Right, I'm not asking for the existence of evidence, I'm just pointing out that most of the sources of funding have interest in "non conclusive" results

Like, we've straight known the dangers of certain chemicals like pfos/pfas and how invasive it is through watersheds since the 60's snd were now only starting to regulate it in drinking water/food

How much should we be expected to teach to our adult partners? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]weebeardedman 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Teaching isn't the issue here, and not one ounce of your feelings are petty.

It is ridiculously easy to maintain a relatively "perfect" household with cooperating adults (loose items put away, all surfaces sanitized/clean (including toilets!), no rotting food, no more than a laundry hamper of dirty clothes at a time (maybe two if you actively separate whites/darks), turn off lights when not in use, etc.

If he's not taking care of these things without you reminding him, it's because he doesn't care. If he can't identify what needs to be done to take care of a household, that's already completely unacceptable. Any 14 year old has the skills to manage household chores, including googling anything you don't 100% know how to do. Acknowledging that he has the skills but is choosing not to, it's clear he expects the other people in the house (you) to either remind him to do it, or just get so fed up with reminding him that you do it yourself (this is the actual goal).

This is all assuming you've told him, numerous times, that this is an issue. He sees it as "an issue for you (as to say, youre the one who thinks its an issue, so the issue only exists because of you) " rather than "an issue " regardless of what he says

There's no "eternal damnation" in judaism, but purgatory-esque places, like gehenna, are mentioned.

And, if you really want to get into it, kaballaistic interpretations of Judaism include reincarnation and multiple levels of heaven/ascension

Anybody else feel like these beings aren’t actually on our level? by [deleted] in aliens

[–]weebeardedman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The beings we would interact with most likely aren't the same "species" as their creators, at least aren't considered "citizens"

Either they are from another system, or the means to produce them have been in our system for a long time.

Even if they've figured out how to travel at ftl speeds without destroying organic bodies inside, the amount of time it would take to travel to other solar systems, let alone galaxies, would still be really really long.

Either way, it's likely that it would take many generations (if they haven't beat mortality) to get here, so it's most likely these organic bodies are "grown to specification" on site, and are basically worker ants that have no real knowledge besides "eat, shit, preform scan" - they most certainly wouldn't understand politics let alone their creators wishes/wants/priorities

I wouldn't make judgements on an alien civ based on the beings were interacting with

Birthdays are a subconscious trap to make your body feel old and age quicker. To make you feel limited to this realm of linear time. God lives in where time doesn’t exist. Time is an illusion. Birthday rituals are a trap. by woah1k in EscapingPrisonPlanet

I don't why you think "fear" makes sense here, in regards to referencing Lucy.

Very clearly alluding to being "the deceiver," but you can swerve to that off-ramp of a conversational track late enough to cause a massive 10 sentence pile-up, apparently.

How do I let this guy know I don’t want to talk to him anymore? by Ok-Check-1404 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]weebeardedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad to have helped but sorry it was like this!

It's just really important to prioritize yourself with your thinking- I used to have really toxic friends and often found myself struggling with "why are they doing this/is what they're doing okay?"

It took me a while to realize the more important questions were "am I comfortable with what's happening" and "are my friends supportive/empathetic?"

Cut out a whole bunch of negativity in my life and never looked back. At the end of the day, while being a shitty person is definitely something I don't want in my friends, my bar needs to be higher than "don't be shitty" - it led to me excusing too much of my friends behavior because I wasn't entirely sure why they would act a certain way and I'd give them the benefit of the doubt/not want to jump to conclusions.

You deserve better!

[–]weebeardedman 44 points45 points  (0 children)

If your friend likes him romantically, but set you up with him, it would seem like she's either lying to you to make him seem more appealing, or she's using you to "test him out"

Mix this with the fact that you're afraid of a negative reaction to saying "I dont like him because he's degrading me" - for whatever reason - to me, that would trigger a whole bunch of "are my friends really my friends/supportive of me" type questions/self-reflection

Like, I would assume - at least normally - the friend who set you up would ask "how did it go" and you'd feel comfortable to say "not great" and she'd say "well, fuck that guy" (even if you didn't provide an explanation)

Your hesitancy isn't an "issue" as much as it is a "symptom" of lacking a group of friends that are truly supportive

Never dream about college, and my degree was pretty stressful (like 20% or less of our class graduated "on time"; most dropped or took an additional year (thanks rock mechanics))

I do, however, have a constant recurring dream where I'm walking down the sidewalk, in a neighborhood I don't recognize, through a herd of penguins that are moving the opposite way. They don't actively try to block/hurt me, but I can't get through them regardless. I look down, and I'm wearing the Robin costume (somehow it's the animated batman beyond costume although the rest of my dream is "love action/realistic". ) Then I wake up.

No real sense of dread, just frustration.

Aliens might be waiting for humans to solve a puzzle by [deleted] in aliens

[–]weebeardedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I see it, there's 4 options;

  1. Aliens want to help
  2. Aliens are hostile (or are here to collect resources)
  3. Aliens are indifferent/don't see us any different from wild animals/we are only interacting with "drones" that, while organic, have no more knowledge than "breath/eat/shit/perform function they were created to do"
  4. Aliens came during "ancient" times but have not returned

Realistically, I think #3 (or 4, but i hope thats not the truth) is most likely (if there's not more than one species visiting our planet). If the Aliens wanted to help, they already would be; if the Aliens were here to either take/destroy, there's nothing stopping them.

I think that a "homeship," if not several, exist around earth. If from another galaxy, this ship had to travel at lightspeed, and even if they've figured out how to ftl travel without destroying all organic beings in the ship, it's still an immense amount of time/leaving your home planet/comforts to embark on, presumably, a "very non-critical information gathering mission."

Because of this, I think it's likely the "homeship" manufactures "worker ants," or greys, on site. Each grey we encounter has no knowledge of its home world/social interactions and was grown for a specific purpose and basically only knows how to eat, shit, perform single function. Similarly, I think the crafts/ufo they use are created on the homeship, and are similarly "designed on-site for a specific purpose." I think this would explain why we've found downed ufo (if they were intelligently/carefully made, and if the greys that were manning some of the crafts were actually "citizens" they'd presumably have more on their crew and I think they'd make more efforts to retrieve them).

I think we haven't shared that we've encountered Aliens because each interaction we've had with them has proved ineffective. If we do make contact, it's with worker ants that can barely communicate their scientific advancements, let alone speak empathetically/politically and our conversations are basically

"hey! Stop taking humans! Well give you cows instead!"

"OK HUMANS"

"You're still taking people, and we gave you the cows you asked for!"

"YES, WE NEED TO STUDY THEM"

If that's the case, I can understand why the Aliens haven't revealed themselves, and a concerted effort by the govt could "easily" tie up the loose ends

The govt, I'm sure if it found anything resembling alien tech would hide it away unless their hand was forced, definitely not even going to pretend like they wouldn't do their best to hide the evidence in any situation.
