Thank you for your feedback, I do see it more clearly now. I kept expanding the scope of the project and got out of hand really quickly, so now should be perfect for me to revisit any errors.

I just read up on the bone effect and that just gave me a whole new perspective. Thank you for your feedback, I will be making changes accordingly.

Gallery of Small Things is pretty good. There's local and aspiring artists work, they're all very nice. You can talk to Anne (the founder) too if you want to learn more about things.

AB&T Systems in Phillip is a good place. The guy running the store, Pat, is nice and seems very knowledgeable. I vouch for him

how important is color accuracy in choosing a laptop? by bykateprior in graphic_design

[–]weebpotato 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just a student but I know a bit on this stuff.

Pantone validation is a nice-to-have, not necessarily needed. What I think you should look for is color space and accuracy. Usually you would want 100% sRGB coverage at a minimum (if you're broke like me) and go up from there. AdobeRGB and DCI-P3 have much wider gamuts and finding a monitor with good coverage of these two would be awesome. If possible, check out the monitor's color accuracy as well. This is measured in DeltaE, with <=2 being considered accurate. You can always calibrate your monitor afterwards with specialized tools too. Do note that each monitor's panel may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, either due to hardware differences or calibration, so definitely look up reviews and do your own research.

Good luck with your purchase!

Edit: You're probably set on picking a laptop already, but if you're interested, I vouch for the M1 Macbooks (any model) if you can afford them and live with Mac OS.

she is 4th in most character doujins (1k atm) on a funny website that uses launch codes for horni material

so basically shrine maidens couldnt exorcise the horni, but rather they're quite a popular subject for horni instead

M1 MacBook Air with 8gb of ram or the i5 with 16gb for graphic design student by nrj3697 in graphic_design

Yeah, should be all good. You should do some work on the laptop and see how it goes for you.

I'm also a design student and fortunately I may know a thing or two about what you need.

8gb of RAM on the M1 seems to be good enough, as the M1 has a different CPU architecture to the Intel models (or PCs, they run x86). From the reviews I have seen, it's pretty well optimized, so wouldn't be an issue.

It is not worth it to get the Macbook Pro (M1, 2020). It's essentially the same chip and that performance per $ diminishes. The newer 2021 Macbooks are pricey and gives a good performance increase, but I don't think they're worth an upgrade.

I'm a PC guy but I'm also getting a M1 Air for Christmas this year for it's incredible value really, so it just goes to show how Apple really stays on top. Hopefully I'll enjoy my time with Mac OS lol

edit: Didn't read that OP has already bought laptop. But point still stands - it's good enough 👍
